'Hack' to enable TV/DVD on the Move

As these are often asked for I cut and paste them out, thanks mainly to Thrasher for this info.

I tried the '753' TV hack and have posted pics of the menus. These may not work on your car, some MY have different settings. Sorry about the picture quality, I blame the iPhone.

Most of the information is meaningless to us mere mortals but it does mean you can watch TV or a DVD (if fitted) whilst driving and can also enable the rear view camera on all the time while driving.

How To:

Start up DVD/Select TV Channel WHILE STATIONARY and engine on.
Press the top middle of the touchscreen when it is on the "home" screen for 5 seconds and release, then press the hard nav key for 5 seconds and release. Keypad entry will appear, enter 753 and OK.
Go to Audio Video settings and TV Video input
Press the Pal/NTSC to get the right picture type then toggle the size (Wide/Wide2/Normal to alter picture size.)

Here are all the screens available to you.

2007 MY and i dont get any menus come up when i try this!? The hard nav button i assume is the physical buttom on the top right?

Also sent me into some diagnostic screen on the Nav when i accidentally pressed that screen for 5 secs instead of the tv/dvd screen, how do i come out? or does it time out?

My guess is i am to blame! Smile

Cheers
Nick

Switch it off, pull the key out, run away!

When you have the HOME screen up with the soft buttons for all the functions (Audio/Phone/Nav) etc this is when you first press and hold your finger on the centre top of the screen for 5 seconds.

Then release and press the top right hard button for the dat nav and hold it for 5 seconds. Then release and it should take you to picture number 1 above. THE INVENTOR OF THE TERM "FULL-FAT RANGE ROVER" :

Thank you!.. it's ok, the car blew up 2 minutes later! Smile

So this isnt a permanent fix? i.e you have to do it everytime you might want the tv on the move?

Cheers

Nick

Interestingly I was playing with this last night and although my TV picture is all-right normally in this test mode it's rubbish , also I didn't have to re-cycle the ignition to get out , I went in to revers to park and the reverse camera took over then it went back to the test screen so I pressed the Radio/Tv hard key and all of the functions came back . 2006 MY FFRR Vogue TD6

TV is rubbish at first but if you press the PAL button it goes back to satisfactory. THE INVENTOR OF THE TERM "FULL-FAT RANGE ROVER" :

No joy for me. 2005 with Touchscreen and MOST. plus 07-08 satnav disc upgrade.

I used be be able to get in with an older method, but that went with the Sat Nav upgrade it think.

Either, I spent quite a few lots of 5 seconds and can't get any joy.

Thank you, it works! Maybe it should be mentioned that after pressing the touchscreen for 5 seconds, nothing shows up, you just go and press the nav plastic button for another 5 seconds and the keypad appears on the screen…

Hi Adam, I'm still not too clear on which menu I need to be in initially . On my touchscreen, if I turn the audio on and then select the DVD/TV button it will immediately put the dvd/tv on in the left upper side of the screen with the channels listed to the right of the display. Is it in this screen where I hold for 5secs? Steve

Right here goes , and I'm rubbish at long explanations .
First with the engine on turn your TV on and showing ,next at the top right of the screen you can find a house shaped soft button ( its on many of the available screens) press this and you get a screen with soft button options of all the different screen functions ,Radio,Nav ,Off Road info etc.
Press and hold the top middle of the screen above the line for five second , nothing will happen , them press the hard Nav button for a further five seconds and the hack key pad will show , press 753 OK and Bob's your Aunties husband .
Hope this works for you . Thumbs Up 2006 MY FFRR Vogue TD6

Hi Axle. Thanks for the explanation, I have now accessed the diagnostics successfully.
Strangely, the only thing I did different to the numerous other attempts was to do what you said and go into the TV/DVD first then come straight back out via the home key. Before I just went to the main audio menu ,pushed the hidden button for 5secs, but when I held the hard Nav button, it just brought up the Sat Nav, so going into the tv/dvd first does appears to be the key to accessing it (weird sequence). Maybe the others who have been unable to access the diagnostics were doing the same as me, mines a 56 reg so I reckon we should all be able to get at it. Ta. Very Happy Steve

I find it strange that you can select 3 different screen formats for the rear view camera but they aren't a normal menu option? I quite like the 'wide 2' display format and I tried leaving the reverse camera on when on the motorway and it was actually quite useful to take a quick look when lane changing as it enabled me to see the blind spots around the 'd' pillars quite easily. Also, I did note that you can actually enable this whilst on the move (not that you want to really). Steve
