Scotland Revealed

Been watching this programme on youtube, and although the woman is a bit annoying and in almost every screen shot when it should be the scenery, I did enjoy it.

I have a 3 week holiday end of April/early May and I've been thinking of combining a shopping trip with a tour of the West Coast, especially if I could get some sailing in. I've never really toured the West Coast and in fact have only visited Scotland briefly on a few occasions.

Too early for the killer midges in April/May Thumbs Up

West coast is awesome, a couple of nights full board at Mick's estate then head north on the A82

Well, I'm going to be there end of April/early May. Booked a sailing holiday for a week, and I'll also have a drive around.

I'm hoping it'll be more like this...

...than this...

I'll be driving up in the RR so let me know if anyone's up for a Caledonian meet!

Loads of great scenery, Applecross area is worth a look if venturing that far west. Glencoe is nice also.

Hadn't seen much of the West coast myself until the last couple years, that's living in the north east all my puff as well! Embarassed

I think it starts from Tobermory. This is the possible route as described: -

Quote:
I would hope to round the Mull of Kintyre, which is itself quite challenging from a planning for weather and tides point-of-view, and get across to Northern Ireland and/or up into the Hebrides - Islay, Jura, Gigha. It's all beautiful, especially if we still have snow on the tops on Arran and Jura.

If the wind so dictates, we could go south towards the Isle of Man and Belfast. I'm curious to do this, never having sailed there, but you would probably prefer to go north so we'll let the wind decide.

Be interested to hear your experiences/advice?

hate to put it in writing, however, at that time of year weather is " usually " good and quite benign, sunny and good sailing winds, I would be inclined to head north towards Skye rather than NI, if you feel adventurous head out to Colonsay, last stop before USA and bloody beautiful with its own eco climate, loads of quiet anchorages up the northern west coast with white sandy beaches Thumbs Up
