Replacing the alloys?...

I am about to replace my old 20" alloys for the (identical) genuine brand new wheels that I got for a bargain from Full Fat Not Diet - but I have a few questions regarding what might be involved...

I have been quoted £60 each Big Cry for new valves from LR Parts - due to their cost, are the Tyre Pressure Monitoring Sensors (TPMS) and the metal valves the same item? OR are they 2 indivdual parts that fit to different areas on the alloy wheel?

Instead of buying new parts - can these items be removed from the old wheels and refitted to the new alloys without damaging them or needing to be reprogrammed by the dealer?

I was originally going to sell the old alloys on eBay - but having seen M44K TS Cool snazzy black wheels on his car, I am thinking of doing the same and refitting them with some chunkier all terrain tyres (possibly Dunlop Grantrek ST8000's) and standard rubber valves - however, would this create more problems with the TPMS system when I swap and change the wheels about?

I am not bothered if the TPMS dashboard warning light flashes when the all terrain wheels are being used, but would the system reset the dash lights itself when refitting the road wheels?

Any helpful advice / comments would be appreciated Thumbs Up

Darren, try and PM Ken. He is an original member of fullfatrr.com but less active on here now and more likely to find him on Disco 3 or Defender 2 sister sites. He regularly changes his wheels and tyres on all his LR vehicles including his previous TDV8 and he will have an answer re TPMS.

Let him know you spoke to me.

He will also have some good tyre recommendations if you want tyres for getting muddy Thumbs Up

He is a busy man but see how u get on. If no joy contact/call me or pm me
