I've done it again... Left with 1 P38, arrived home with 2!

Crap phone pictures as it was dark when I got home...

Today I left with 1 P38 and an empty trailer and arrived home with 2.

I bought it from auction as a main dealer trade in.

Whilst paying for it I was handed a full handbook pack with the service book in it, fully stamped up. The V5, both keys and an MOT certificate.

Price wise... It cost me the less than 5 tanks of fuel in the FF.

It's MOT'd for 6 months, has 4 nearly new Pirelli Scorpions on the 16 inch wheels, body work is brilliant, not a dent on any of the panels, interior is unmarked. It's only covered 87k miles too with 4 previous owners.

Faults:

Front air suspension doesn't rise - think it's the solenoids as they're not clicking. Have got a known good valve block and compressor from a car I'm breaking for spares though so will swap them tomorrow evening.

Exhaust has a blow on it.

There was a slight misfire evident when it was warm but when I had it running the first time I found the plug lead on cylinder 5 was loose so am wondering if it's maybe damaged the coil. It's a cheap set of leads on it so I'll fire a set of magnecors on it and hopefully they'll fix that.

Still not sure what I'm gonna do with it yet as I really don't need four, 4.6 HSE P38's.

You'll have to get rid or it'll look like you're breeding 'em.

Here's another one that I fetched home from Dumfries in Spring last year...

The guy was cursing it as he couldn't get it to run. Handed him 500 quid, loaded it onto the trailer, and had a trip home up the M74 doing 4mpg...

Found a new MAF I had in the shed, fitted it and it was running fine.

Ended up parting with that one as there was a local lad desperate for it with the bull bars and tinted windows Shocked

The P38's are handy hacking cars that you can park anywhere, don't mind getting covered in salt and muck and keep the FF tucked up in the garage over the winter.

To be honest, my L322 is getting a bit like that now. It's 11 years old, done 120,000 miles and, ok it's worth more than £500, but it's still not an awful lot of money.

4mpg! Shocked

My TD6 averages a little over 20mpg with 3.5 tonnes behind it.

I'm really not sure what I'm gonna do with it. Since the 406 was resprayed we don't really want it doing the Tesco run or parking anywhere that it might get wacked by some idiot who doesn't give a damn so when I saw this one it made sense.

However, I'm not getting the "I don't need a car that big just to go to Tesco" speach that usually follows buying an RR. Apparently the Freelander was perfect but that was one car I was glad to see the back of!

I need to start moving things on though as at the last count last night, there's 18 cars on the driveway. That doesn't include the 5 Series 2B Forward Controls that we've got. Shocked 2002 4.6 Vogue SE - Alveston Red with Lightstone Leather

As requested then, here's some of the current fleet... (I've not got pictures of everything!)

Here's the modern LR stuff to start:

Oxford Blue P38 4.6 HSE

Biaritz Blue P38 4.6 HSE

Epsom Green P38 4.6 HSE

Rioja Red P38 4.6 HSE

Baltic Blue 4.4 TDV8 AB

Modern LR Group Shot (Coupe of P38's missing and the silver L322 is the one Jay bought from us)

Older LR's (Series 2B Forward Controls, all 2.6 straight 6 Rover engines) Unfortunately I've only got 3 old pictures of them, no recent ones since they've been sorted out.

This one was originally owned by the GPO who used it to maintain telegraph poles

This one was exported to South Africa and only came home in 2007

This one was bought for a good chassis originally but it slowly being restored

All the Forward Control pictures were taken before the new workshops were built so there were LR's and rubbish strewn everywhere.

Next up comes the collection of French cars:

Xantia Activa (Has hydraulic rams instead of drop links so tackles corners with no more then half a degree of body roll

Citroen XM V6 Exclusive:

Citroen C5 V6 Exclusive SE:

Peugeot 207 GT:

Peugeot 406 Coupe V6 SE:

Peugeot 407 Coupe V6 Manual GT:

This one is totally out of contrast with any of the others...

It's a 2005 MG ZR that is fitted with a Rover T16 Turbo engine. It's been tweaked up to 260bhp and fitted with the limited slip differential from the Rover 220 Coupe Turbo. Goes like stink and makes more noise then you can imagine with a 3" straight through exhaust from the turbo back... It doesn't see any road use but gets trailer to and from track days. Hoping to get it to the Nurburgring later this year.

There are a few more that I don't have pictures of at the moment but that should hopefully suffice for now Smile

I've washed them all in one day once before and swore blind I'd never do it again.

There used to be a guy that came round and did them on the drive, £20 got them valeted in and out without the hassle of taking them anywhere and he used to do a great job.

He'd appear on the 1st Saturday of every month and we'd give him 4 or 5 cars to do. It was great as I hate doing interiors but don't mind exteriors.

The Xantia, XM and FF were detailed last year so require minimal effort in washing, most of it comes off with the pressure washer so doesn't need much more then a quick once over with the wash mit Smile

I'm on the lookout for a Defender 90 at the moment, a Black Edition would be fantastic but the pick up version would be kinda cool. Preferably a TD5 with a knackered engine as I want to drop a 4.6 Rover V8 in it Very Happy should be good for a laugh. 2002 4.6 Vogue SE - Alveston Red with Lightstone Leather
