2007 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Java Black
After three years of searching....

Hi All,
After three odd years of searching, I have finally bought our Range Rover.
She is a 08MY 57 plate TDV8 Vogue SE in Java/Ivory. She has supercharger 9 spoke alloys, side steps, privacy glass and RSE. She also has the dog mesh net that sits on top of the parcel shelf.
Last service was an Insp II in April and Manu warranty lasts until September and then dealer warranty until April 2011.
The satNav DVD was changed in April too.
She is in fabulous condition but I need to spend a bit of time to get it up to my standard. I am aware this post is useless without pictures so I will deal with that ASAP after the waxing!
The price was excellent too given I spotted one (Very similar) on LRs website for almost £10,000 more!
I am most chuffed as I was after an 08MY car but at 56 plate money.
I will update soon,
Kind regards,
Ed
P.S.on the drive home from Northampton she was doing 36.5mpg on motorway and 35.3 overall on run home over 120miles - very pleasing!

Got up with the sun this orning to do the outside. She needs a clay but did a meguiars 3 stage on her. Went to start to head off and take photos and hey presto - flat battery.
read up about the pyrotechnics on the +ve terminal so rang LR for some advice. "We'll send a chap straight round."
Battery knackered - bad news; covered under warranty - good news!
LR chap kept saying how great the TDV8s are and a few interesting things they do - for example, on every start she quickly selects low range to exercise the transfer box as previous car owners found the box seized when they went to use it. Also the +ve terminal pyros have been deleted and instead the ECU will kill all the electrics, except hazards, telephone and drive the central locking open.
What a wonderful car with a brand new battery.
Photos taken so should have them up by this evening...if I am not called out to work!

Two facts I didnt' know! Seems to make sense that the car thinks about what to kill, rather than just 'blowing stuff up' which sounds a bit crude by todays standards!

I can't believe you got 36mpg from it Shocked

I average about 22
I've had 17, driving like a cock
My best was 31, driving like the pope!!

Still trying to work out how a long Censored get's 35mpg...

On the TD6 I drop it into low range in trafic once a week to keep the parts used. Habit I've always had with Land Rovers.

Well I have not done the brim test yet but that was what the computer thought.
The M1 south had a 50 limit on stretches and then on the unrestricted sections I went up to 60. I have not driven her much but she seems to go into 6th at about 55-57mph dropping down to 1600rpm or so.
I had just picked her up so AC and cooled seats were on/off all the time. Cruise did the work and I tried not to touch the brakes at all - she seemed to coast in gear quite well.
She has done 49,000miles so is nicely run in.
It seem the previous owner/s did not bother cleaning the roof much as that needed a good bit of work but has come up well. A couple of minor blemishes dissappeared with polish but I am looking forward to getting a Meguiars G220 to cut out the odd bit of swirling - apparently they are the best thing since sliced bread.
The spare seems to have a cut in the sidewall and only about 3 mm of tread - the fronts are 4mm at best so new shoes before winter but what to do? LR built the car to use Scorpions but I also bought the car to virtually guarantee I can get the kids to school in the winter so was thinking about 18-19" wheels and Vredestriens just for the winter - perhaps new scorpions would suffice?
Who is the best source to tyres blackcircles, camskills or somewhere else?
I also need to source a tow hook cover for the front as that is missing.
Do the cars come with a tool kit? I have the jack, chocks (2 plastic and 2 metal), wrench but no tool kit wrap.
