Electric Side Steps

Anyone know how much these are to retro fit at the dealer?

Anyone got them and can tell me if they are any good or just an expensive gimmick? Discovery 4 HSE

In my very recent searches I have seen the steps for £999, the brainbox for £100.
If you can DIY it (dont know if it needs coding) you could save a bit, Stratstone quoted me £1500 to do them last week literally as a joke.

Nice though.

I was told by a dealership the biggest problem on 09's and 2010's were the electric steps and pre heaters for battery drain ...... Confused ====================================

"Open Mike Night " sounded like a lot of fun until i found out i was going to an Autopsy

Battery drain was a serious issue for us on a 2010 picked up in March 2010. It failed to start on at least 4 occassions due to high battery drain. Since had lots of software and lurve from the Stealer (couple a months ago) and been a good girl ever since Smile

We have even dared to use the pre-heater and it worked (and started afterwards). Cool Currently running FFRR MY10 TDV8 3.6L and a Disco 3 XS Commercial (tank like but very effective as a Company van). Plus one mint condition Track Day Car in the form of an E36 M3 3.2L Evolution circa June 1996 with lots of go faster bits and only 52k miles on the clock! Oh, plus a few bits to make it slow down really quickly as well! Luvverly.

Adam I wouldnt bother - expensive to buy with the ECUs aswell and the fitting costs

Standard Steps or tubes are better value and more widely available

My Dad has them on hi 2010 Vogue SE and they have proved to be a bit temperamental i.e.; you can open a boor , the car recognizes this and the lights come on but the step doesn't deploy . 2008 MY Supercharged

I need deployable site steps soooo bad! Obviously I dont really, but it would be a nice retrofit if available. I read though that system integration to a 2003 is nearly impossible?

I thought that it wasn't possible with any thing before 2009 but I'm nearly always wrong. Must say they are very cool when you see them working. Thumbs Up 2008 MY Supercharged

I'd love an FFRR with these fitted - I think they're the perfect compromise, not to mention the whole gadget factor thing.

I hope they're not as temperamental as this thread suggests though.

I'd be tempted to pay £1200 for them... after I get my Range Rover. Researching my first Range Rover purchase

Got a set on my latest 2008MY FFRR. Had no problems with battery drain or not deploying when door opens (maybe the ECU is faulty, axle).

Get some surprised looks sometimes, but all comments are positive.

Only thing I would say is, in access height, when deployed they are quite low and still leave quite a step up for an elderly passenger to climb. FFRR in off-road height they are great, for the rest of us.
