DIY LPG servivcing

Hi,

anybody done their own 'servicing' by means of reading off the LPG ECU and doing any changes themselves? If so - is it easy to do or shall I leave it to the experts? I do have basic experience of car tuning etc so appreciate the importance of getting values right etc

Sorry to go a bit off topic, but what's the deal with buying a LPG'd car without any certification? Is there anything obvious to look for, or is it best avoided? Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

If it's set up and running Ok and the emissions are alright then the only bits to service are filters in the solenoids, usually one at the tank and one at the vaporiser. After big miles the vaporiser can do with a clean out as you get deposits build up, need an overhaul kit that comes with a new diaphram etc

Only really need to plug in the ECU if you have faults or it's not runing OK, if it was set up well at install then it will follow the cars ECU and compensate all on it's own... Pete

The question is, why hasn't it got one...

If it's been lost, not a problem as it will have been recorded on the LPGA website...

If it never had one then was it a DIY install and if it was does it comply with LPGA guidelines...

Get it checked by a registered installer, he will asses the install and can issue a certificate there and then if it's OK... Pete

Checked the LPGA website, it's not recorded there, so I guess it was a DIY job. That then raises the question of wether it was fitted correctly of not. Whistle Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

Yeah I did the same.

The quality of the install send to suggest otherwise .... It looks to be a good job cosmetically :-/

I'll get the LPG service bods to check it and add to the database

Your insurance company may need a certificate before they insure the vehicle. Also it may not be registered with the DVLA as a dual fuel vehicle. Which means you won't get the cheaper road tax. Very Happy

I did check and they've not requested one as yet.

And I thought all you got was a £10 reduction on the tax? If it's more I might get things done faster Very Happy

Insurance companies only usually ask for the cert if you make a claim, if you haven't got one they won't pay for any LPG bits and may refuse the whole claim, not many ask for it when you take out the insurance.

RFL is only £10 cheaper so not much benefit there... Pete

Any reduction no matter how small should be snatched from the government at the first opportunity as a matter of principal. Very Happy
