I heard from my dealer yesterday that there is now a TSB released for the knocking issue, it does include replacing this valve that appears to fix the problem, there is a lead time on the delivery of part but lets hope this finally resolves it.

Mine's been done, but need to do some reasonable mileage before passing judgement on the success.

Will post in due course. Waited about six weeks for valve + 3 days to fit.

From those who have already posted after this fix, it should be the solution.

Happy days ahead hopefully. Rolling Eyes

Latest replacement suspension components

Vehicle back in to dealer with advice that they check for latest TSB on this issue. However, JLR has only authorised them to replace the "front stabiliser bar". No other components. Unlike the bush replacements on 01/08/2014 which made no improvement whatsoever, this component replacement has improved the ride but after only 100 miles or so I am concerned that the low speed "rumble" over rough surfaces may be returning. I will persevere for some longer journeys over more varied terrain and report further. FFRR user since 1974. RR No. 10 (2021MY P525 delivered Nov 2020)

New valve block fitted and system re-programmed one month ago and so far seems fine. Just the very odd faint knock on rough surface. So now much better to drive and live with.

Wish it had been ok from day one, as first six months of ownership had not been good.

Just a couple of other niggles to resolve and I might start to feel it's been worthwhile.

Very grateful for the support received from my dealer, which has been excellent.

All others have already posted, this is 'the fix' that works. Razz

Mine is in today so hoping they will replace this valve as its had every other mod, I did say I dont want it back unless they do. Have been told it will take 3 days to sort it, I await the possibility of a quiet ride...

I was surprised it was 3 days, apparently first day was for other checks before LR would release part,
anyway have now picked it up and the car is transformed, so nice to drive without that noise ~ lets hope it lasts as I am now very happy, pity it took nearly 10 months before getting sorted but they got there in the end...

Just had my SDV8 in for the knocking again the bulletin this time was to replace the steering rack bolts and control arm bushes. This has made a bit of improvement in steering feel but knock is still there.
Was Told by dealer next step is replace all four suspension struts JLR have this is the third step in the upgrade process so this means another trip back to dealers as they are not allowed by JLR to do all the mods in one visit.
Great customer servise just keep messing the buyers of their products around and maybe they will get bored of chasing a fix and go away.

Unless they replace the Valve block with one with dampers the rest of what they are doing is likely to be a waste of time. Mine has been fine ever since I had this done.

Well the knock is still there! The dealer is now replacing the whole steering rack. I did mention your advise on ARC Valve!
Will let you know how this turns out. They have given me this time a Discovery four as loaner This is a very nice car to drive.

5.0 is right.

Sounds like ARC Bar.

Mine was done last year. Still get faint knock on some surfaces however. It also leaked fluid. Complete drain after three months. Happened in seconds. That said, very much improved.

I am surprised that there is no reference to Bulletin by dealer.

Anyway, my understanding is that LR will not reimburse dealer if replaced parts are later found to be ok.

Someone on this site will have the details. Tried LR Customer Relations?

Seems a lot of work, but it may be something other than ARC.

Please keep us informed.

If I get the knock only going over bumps and holes in the road, is that still the issue being discussed here ?

Or are your cars just knocking over smooth roads ?

Mine's a Sep 14 car, would it have been fixed by then ?

If it's the SDV6 it's ok as it does not have this roll control system.

However, it seems some SDV8's continued through production with the old style ARC block.

Pot holes make the 'knocking' more obvious, but it can also happen on relatively reasonable surfaces.

Try going down an un-surfaced track and listen/feel the topic.

Mine was Jan 2014 build, but 6 months on for yours does not rule anything out.

Danger mouse the knock is on rough surfaces or pot holes or sharp bumps in the road. I have just got the car back with the replacement steering rack plus the ARC was replaced earlier .
I will let you know how this goes after I drive the car for a bit. Fingures crossed!
