Wear on the outer side edge...

Just given the FF the once over and noticed the tyre on back right is looking worst for wear.... It is looking considerably "slick" but only the 1st 1.5" on the outside edge. I have got a few quotes for a replacement tyre as the other 3.. Its a Kumho 255 /55/R19.. cheapest £143.00 to dearest £150.00 fitted. Do I also need the wheel or all wheels tracking to resolve this issue. Is it a coincidence that I had an issue with a sticking brake earlier this year on the wheel..

Thanks

I had the same problem with the nearside rear and just had the wheel alignment checked adn it was out significantly compared to the others, hence the wear. It cost £85 +vat so cheaper than a tyre and probbaly accounted for the 5% reduction in fuel economy I have had over the last few months.

May not just be the tracking/alignment, more likely the out of alignment and consequently tyre wear caused by worn upper and lower hub bushes. I had the same wear problem, new bushes, then alignment, and hey presto. May be also worth changing the tracking arm?

Then you will want to do both sides!

Save it til you get back from France Thumbs Up .

So I too have noticed I am scrubbing the shoulders of all my tyres - now it could (ahem) be my driving style or the tyres (Toyo proxy ST2). Now wondering if bushes and alignment as well. Hmmmmm "On first name terms with my local Dealer......now."
