Alternative dog guard

I didn't like the OEM full height dog guard.

I found the Boot Buddy Safe-D-Guard (fecking awful name). It is a plexiglass guard that has a couple of L shaped brackets that support it on the back of the seat and then some Velcro straps to hold it on the rear head rests.

They didn't have one to fit the L405 but were happy to measure my car to make the template. It arrived today.

I am pleased so far. The fit is tight but works. I like that there is no "cage" to look at. The only thing I have noticed so far is a slightly annoying reflection when I look in the rear view mirror but I think I will experiment with different angles on the rear seats (they recline) to see what works best.

I ordered mine without the logo (I hate stickers and I hated their logo).

How are you getting on with it ?

I was planning to make something like this with a sheet of polycarbonate - but my wife vetoed the idea as she thought it would make the boot area too hot (greenhouse).

I've ordered a mesh guard, but wish I'd read this first Censored

It's great.

However, it would be a pain if you regularly put the seats down (I've had my car for 10 months and not yet put the seats down, so not an issue for me).

It definitely doesn't get any hotter (there are gaps at the side and ventilation slots at the top).

The biggest downside is to do with reflections. You can deal with most of it by angling it correctly (it rests on the roof so you can adjust the angle so you get a reflection of the roof). If you have the pano roof, you will end up having the blind closed (well, I did).

It doesn't see to get dirty (my dog doesn't seem to touch it).

The Perspex is easily scratched. I seem to have picked up a little scratch from putting a cardboard box in at that level - not sure how. It's not annoying though.

Thanks - roof blind would be a deal breaker - SWMBO loves the pano roof

I guess I'll have to stick with the mesh guard Big Cry

You are Peterborough. I'm Cambridge. If you want to borrow it, pop down.

The dog is incapacitated so he won't try to join me in the front.

Thanks for the offer - I showed my wife & she was pretty adamant against so I'm on a hiding to nothing.

If I'd just ordered it in the first place I might have got away with it Big Cry

Two expressions spring to mind:

It is easier to seek forgiveness than permission...

but also:

Happy wife, happy life.

I think it looks great, looks way more like you're transporting mans best friend than something out of Underworld.
