Got to say that NavCoder is better for diagnosing PDC faults on early (2002-2004.5) BMW ffrr's. For a kick off it shows all the sensors and what they are seeing! Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Not helpful, haha , more money, when I have just bought the Gap tool , however having said that my problem is sporadic, and what I cannot understand and what may have happened now is that when I select live values and the P button on with continuous tone the one sensor that will not accept a tick is the front inner left, is this telling me of the intermittent fault that I keep getting , because of now the sensors are normal again and showing no faults. Maybe Gap can show some light on this.

Sorry I may have repeated myself in this thread but just adding to this frustrating issue!

Swap the sensor with another one and see if the fault moves, if it does then you need a sensor, if it stays inner left it's the loom!! Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

parking sensors not working..

Hey have you considered buying All Comms 3 for L322
this tool has @ comprehensive model specific fault finding section on Almost every system including Parking sensors.
it will give you a far more specific indication of your fault then any other diagnostic plug ins this side of Rovercom system
whatever best of luck ( im not a shareholder in All Comms )
Matt..

When the car starts up every day things are fine then it’s back again , so I haven’t got long to wait every day!
Thanks for you offer , by the time I got to Bedfordshire I probably would have spent the cost of the All Comms .... or have I?
I’ll look it up .
Cheers Pat

Hey Pat im not sure how much All comms is for the latest kit and as said there are other diagnostic plug ins im sure that are better, but when im working with all comms i can see the way this guy storey has put it together..

it covers the most potentially expensive bits like EAS, ABS Transfer Box and Body control and Engine management etc. in a bunch of different ways , and although you still find yourself scrathing your head as to what the next step might be..
it does really get your head into the logic of it all.

i prob@bly log on @ couple of times a month even when i dont have any issues just to make sure i have faults coming up..
and its kind of re assuring.
ive actually had the car for around six years and for most of that time without any diagnostic gear..
So when a problem came up id bite my nails but have to take it to an independent garage hoping that they would be fairly honest with me, but i must admit theres been a few times when ive had things replaced that simply had nothing to do with the problem. and i can see that now..

Now at least with my bit of kit i am usually fairly close to the probable cause rather than relying completely on the garage.

Anough more than enough from me, .. B3 great to hear that you sort your sensor issue out..

Cheers

Many thanks for your honest thoughts on the diagnostic, normally I wouldn't hesitate on your advice on All Comms, but I have just bought the Gap IID TOOL ,and picked up All Comms in my research , its sounds very good after reading all about it ....dam!

Oh well I shall have get some advice from Gap as I THINK I am quite close , watch this space , I will post when I find out,
Cheers Pat

I have done a raid bit of testing today with nothing conclusive, on the live values on the park module it has come up the the left sensor was only reading 25mm . So I have swapped it with the right sensor , easier access, and now when I do live values again it says the right inner and right are reading with small distance parameters. Can I conclude from that these are faulty. Am I doing this correctly.

Pat, although i have changed bumper etc, i have never really had @ny problems with the Parking sensors but reasonably it Looks like you have identified the fault.

If you do look to purchase new ones do search around because prices for the same item vary greatly especially on EBay..
but obviously better new than ‘Pre Owned’.
( as if you would)!
whatever best of luck , Steve..
