No Parking Sensors

Please can someone help ?

After months of trouble free driving the parking sensors are not working front or rear.

When pressing the button the bleeping comes from the rear, the light flashes but their is no proximity bleeping front or rear.

Listening to all the sensors - no ticking

The GAP tool says 0x9 ultrasonic sensor voltage. Checked fuse ok.

Can anyone point me in the right direction please ? 2002 Vogue 4.4 V8

Thanks but it doesn't cover my problem.

I need to find out what the code reader means by " ultrasonic sensor voltage"

I could swap over the ECU depending on how much another is ? 2002 Vogue 4.4 V8

Still no joy

I have replaced the ecu with a new one. The code reader still says "09 ultrasonic sensor voltage" the light on the dash flashes with a constant long tone and I can hear no ticking from any of the sensors front or rear.

I should add that the reason I have not yet ripped off the bumpers to check the sensors individually is because I assume the code reader would say if it was a sensor issue or at least I would hear the good ones ticking

Can anyone help ? 2002 Vogue 4.4 V8

Do you have a tow bar fitted? If so, and its OE, plug in a trailer board which will deactivate the rears and show you if the fronts work without issue Thumbs Up

It's odd, my IDTool says which sensors are faulty but I have tried to hear ticking from the other sensors but no joy. Am I going deaf or most likely being stupid and if the car senses a faulty sensor it deactivates them all. In which case the ticking test is pretty pointless anyway as none will tick Confused Geoff

No sir, you will still hear the ticking from the others when one is defective and the orange light flashes as faulty... Thumbs Up

A good tip that about the trailer board. Plugged one in but just the same. So that would point to a fault at the front.

I noticed on the 11D GAP tool that you can disable the front and have rear only so I tried this but although the tone has changed the sympton is still there - inactive. So that would point to the rear

I think it's off with the bumpers over the weekend 2002 Vogue 4.4 V8

Got the rear bumper off & changed the wiring loom and hey presto all working again Very Happy Thanks to the advice on the dodgy wiring.

A bit disappointed in the GAP tool as "ultrasonic sensor voltage" doesn't really give any clues pointing to the loom in the rear bumper. Wouldn't it be better to say something like " rear sensors fault"

Of course this thread may help others with the same problem. Don't rush in and buy a new ECU like I did. 2002 Vogue 4.4 V8

So the IIDToll is specific, front right and rear right and centre showing as faulty sensors. However what ever I do there is no ticking. I've connected a trailer board (disables the rears) and when I run the scan this just shows the one fault Front Right sensor but there is no ticking at all.
The fronts have been working in the past so maybe i should just get that one out and have a look, is there a shortcut through the lower grill or do I have to release the wheel arch liner.
Anybody know?

Does the rear bumper have to come off or can you carefully lever them out ?

Also as colour matched most I see are black or primer, can you not buy colour matched ? Many thanks
Paul

Get a proper colour matched aerosol from a paint factor and paint them yourself. Really easy to do and will save you a fortune. 2007 Vogue TDV8 in Zermatt Silver with Charcoal

Been looking at this thread , the rear bumper does need to off and after that relatively easy to access rear sensors. Front bumper not sure , I have just purchased the IID TOOL and the signs are that the switch on the dash is the culprit , sporadic though sometimes the when selecting revers its fine , but mostly not. It produces a continuous tone when wrong , not seen it flashing though. The diagnostic also picked up inner front left when I put a tick in the box on the tool except the one I mentioned , is this another way of detecting the problem . I know on the freelander 2 , that if one fails they all do which is indicative of the continuous tone.
More testing tomorrow.
