United Kingdom 2004 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Ipanema Sand

I just came back last week from Warwickshire car museum in Gaydon and they have the "first ever Range Rover" off the production line on display there. I swear it was a mid blue colour!?!?! Accept, some days your the pigeon, some days your the statue!

We do have to take into consideration the source of the information Laughing

Is this what they call a Velar or is that pre RR?

They were badged Velar to fool the press etc when it was out on the road doing pre production testing.

The chassis numbers were not consecutive. Number 001 was not the first production one I don't think.

I too enjoyed my visit to Gaydon.

Canada 2008 Range Rover HSE 4.4 V8 Java Black

Wow. Lovely car and I'd like a 2 door Classic as they are VERY rare over here. (Range Rovers didn't come here until the early 90s.). But £150K does seem to be rather a lot. I won't be bidding but I hope it goes to a good home.

Geeky time here: the rear lights look rather different. I don't think I've seen those before. Also, the rear side pillars look strange in body colour rather than black, but I know that's how you tell the REALLY old ones.

They were covered in vinyl on the production models very soon after launch, to disguise bad build tolerances between the rear pillar and the roof.

Spun by marketing as a "floating roof".

The green car - YVB 151H - is chassis number one.

The blue car - YVB 153H - is chassis number three.

. . . . but - the Press Dept wanted a blue for the photos, so the the blue car was finished first.

There you go - clear as mud !

The green car is owned by the Huddersfield Land Rover Centre. I've seen it in the flesh several times and it is stunning. It retains it's aluminium bonnet and LSD in the transfer box (both ditched soon after production started).
I seem to remember the owner turning down an offer of a quarter of a million some years ago . . . . .

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?

The two Velars that sold at Graham Hunts last year for £70K each (one being HRH P.C) now seem a bargain !! Regards

Front seats look like replacements to me. I owned a1971 version and the seats were semi hard plastic.
