Best After-Sales Service

Since buying my FullFat 5 years ago, I have had so-o-o-o-o many problems to wrestle with, something which will, I’m sure, be familiar to many FF owners. Some of my problems have been totally mystifying (the second press on the remote unlock button not unlocking the boot and/or back doors, but only in the direct strong summer sunlight of the south of France; the rear parking radar giving off continual beeping – again only in the strong summer sun, both problems disappearing completely in the winter …); some are not unknown (automatic gearbox having to be replaced at +/- 100,000km); some being one-off and needing specialist knowledge (what diagnostic tool to buy?); and some seemingly trivial but needing attention to keep my car in the best possible condition (ageing and deterioration of some of the plastics and rubbers, …)
So who has been able to help me with all these problems? Have I found a really helpful Stealer or Indy? Or is it my local enthusiast garage?
No, I have to say this really brilliant After-Sales Service is you, guys, you learned contributors to this forum! I think I can honestly say that there is not one issue I have encountered (so far!) where I have not found a solution, a part, some advice, a “how-to” (Wiki), or some other form of sustenance.
The most recent example? I have been following the various winter tyre threads with interest and was seriously thinking of giving myself a set for Christmas, not out of any real need but more for peace of mind. Not only do I find discussions on the pros and cons of fitting winters, but also the relative merits of the different brands … and a link to a site selling ridiculously cheap (well in JLR terms …) alloys so I can afford to keep a complete set of fitted winter wheels. But this solution then came with a problem – the new alloys are only suitable for use with the “early black wheel nuts”. What’s the difference?, I pondered. No problem – I even found on this forum a thread with a photo comparison of the 2 types of wheel nut, making identification easy-peasy. Brilliant!
Honestly, guys - and I’m sure you know who you are but are too modest to own up ... Well perhaps not!!!! - you are the tops! Please take a bow.
Who pays you???
There, got that off my chest. I can go to bed happy now ...
(Administrators: delete this as "unnecessary comment" at your peril ...) It's "bébéchoon", ackcherly, with accents. 'Steve' to my chums.
20 years ownership of Solihull products, ALL GONE NOW, sniff!
Current motor: Suzuki S-Cross 4WD auto, 1.4 petrol. Oh so reliable! 5 years now and no problems. Oh, all right then, a leaking shocker replaced under guarantee.

Great comments that I can only 100% agree with. This is an active forum with so much invaluable advice and much humour as well. The FFRR is a such a unique car, with unique problems! But collectively, we endure it's strange behaviour and help each other out. Long may it continue Thumbs Up Thumbs Up After all, it is the original and the best Range Rover ever produced, albeit the first model all the way to the L405. Very Happy Very Happy SDV8 AB MY 2019

I agree with all of the above.
I've learnt more about my FF in the last 6 weeks on here than I have in the 12 months of ownership prior to joining this site.

Craig from Cam-Tech has been particularly helpful and informative with my various queries and look forward to meeting him next Weds when he services the gearbox. An arrangement made purely due to the use of this forum.

I hope to contribute with a few 'how to' guides over the next few months myself, as a friend and I will be installing a set of deployable side steps and upgrading the brakes from the under-performing standard 2 pots to the awesome Brembo 6 pots. Thumbs Up
