Remote Control 3rd Button / Tailgate Release Button

The thrid button on the FFRR remote opens the tailgate.

Does anyone know if this can be changed like the Disco's can so iot performs other operations?

For example, on the Diso it could be used to put the lights on (inc' reversing lights) to illuminate your drive etc.

Might sound stupid, knowing how important battery usage on an FFRR is, but I'd like it to put the lights on for a short time.

Where we live in the beautiful Scottish Borders we are occasionally afflicted by low life pilfering our farm equipment. It's not a high crime area but I guess all farms are prone to it nowadays with quads etc being easy pickings!!

I therefore thought, as an extra tool in this problem if the FFRR lights could be switched on by the remote it would a) light up the lane and b) make any would be thieves think I was in the car. If I heard a noise at night I could then use the remote and then watch what happens plus possibly be able to note number plates etc.

It's no biggy but I just wondered if it could be done - my previous Disco was set up to do this but I never used it in anger!

sounds like a good idea but i'm pretty sure it cant be done.....you could press the lock button [when the FF is locked] and you'll find that the interior and wing mirror puddle lights come on for a few seconds ,this might deter peeps but it wont illuminate a lane for instance...
you could like i have , put in brighter leds in the drivers interior courtesy light which will on a dark night give off a warning ...
solar powered security lights like this from argos might be an alternative,

It is a very unfortunate fact in this land of ours that even if some scum is trying to take your things the use of a shotgun is frowned upon Big Cry Along time ago I remember a police SGT telling me that if you're gonna shoot a low life make one shot counts - make it in the front and up high!!!! A dead'n can't say he wasn't threatening you or that you weren't acting in "heat of the moment" self defense!!!!!

Anyway, heading back to topic - the low life's have been known to disable security lights (mains and solar). Mind you they're pretty barefaced b Censored rs when they do come. A neighbour had his Defender stolen from the middle of the nearby village and then a week later they came and took his quad from outside his farm house while he was inside having lunch!!!!! (oops - off topic again - soz).

Anyway, it was just a thought but no worries. Perhaps the only remaining question has to be why would LR put an option on a lesser model (albeit HSE) and not on a newer better model (ok - only Vogue not SE but still!!) Question
