Idea I think I've spotted the problem...... Whistle someone, Pete, has titled it "2002 - 2006 Replacement head unit running Android" Shocked

Whistle Shouldn't that be "2002 - almost 2005, and if the screen changes when you touch it Censored off, Replacement head unit running Android " Razz Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

There are non-touch screen 2006 ones about though...

I'll put something on the first page... Pete

Shocked So Land Rover produced parts bin clearance specials too Shocked

A pal of mine used to work for Vauxhall on the CF van line, as a body finisher, he tells of the sudden upgrade to the CF van to use up all the door furniture that was left over from the Viva Deluxe after it had finished Shocked Sounds like L/R discovered that they had a few more stillages full than they originally thought Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... hi,
fair play guys, first i put it as 2004 as my rr is a 54 but regd in january 2005 which is a change over front so thought it best,
i did sort of read the posts backwards thinking all was great and now realise i should of started from the front, all i was really after was getting my android prone to show its phone book and the tv to work on digital, tv not the important, and it might be easier to get a parrot.

but now i have read through the post fair play to all those that put the hard work in Thumbs Up

Although not in your case, I think one of the problems is that people tend to put the date of registration as the year of the vehicle when doing their profile. Using the model year instead helps to get more accurate answers to a query.

For example my FFRR was first registered on 1st October 2004 but is MY2005 so that is what I have in my profile. Especially as it was a changeover to touch screen and MOST John

If you are replacing the lot, or tapping into just speakers then you can fit any unit? Maybe the wheel controls may be a concern?

Yes you can but you lose the "other" things the head unit does, the FBH timer, clock setting and fuel computer with the early BMW FF's and a whole lot more on the later ones....

You can get a blanking plate with a double din size hole to fit the FF (well BMW actually but it will fit) and then use any double din head unit you like... Thumbs Up Pete

Haylands,

I'm interested if you have any suggestions as to which current model of unit is best purchased ? Looking specifically for DAB radio as well as the usual sat nav etc, having a vogue on a '53 plate with DSP I'm also looking for advice on the canbus integration and how to successfully bypass the amp

I'm no ICE expert, all I know is in this thread and the fitting thread, as for which one is best you will have to research that yourself from all the adverts .... Pete

Nice! I specifically got a 2008 to get the newer nav/stereo. That was before knowing how you could update the old ones so much more easily. That looks great and very "factory".
