Headlamp wash / wipe?

I've been reading the discussion about single or twin axle caravans and one of the chaps posted an Ebay link which also included a picture of a FF. It turns out this was a P38 and looking at it got me thinking:

What ever happened to the headlamp wash / wipe which was a must a few years back? All cars I notice, FF included, only have washer jets and not wee wipers - Why?

Mines 2004/5 and has headlight wash wipe. I do have xenon's also so don't know if it's optional. I'm sure someone with more information than me will be along to shed a bit more light on it.

Our 2003 has the wash/wipe, except just before its MOT in May it decided enough was enough and stuck its nearside wiper vertically, like it was giving the bird!

As it was an MOT failure, it got a new wiper motor out of us (well its 'empty your account' chip did)!

Oh sorry chaps - I was wrong eh? I do apologise.

So I presume the original L322's had wash wipe but this was dropped at the facelift!?!

Not sure how LR can worry about cost of manufacture on a car with such a price tag.

The wash-wipers are only installed on the early L322s which had the bi-xenon lights fitted, I've seen plenty of HSE L322s that just have the halogen headlights fitted and they dont have wash-wipers fitted.

Almost all car brands, post 2005-ish, adopted the high pressure jet washers, as the wipers aren't as effective and would normally just smear the headlights

Did you not try pulling the fuse? Normally resets it

@noddy - Yes, did the pulling the fuse out, and it did reset the wiper, but when the screen wash was used again with the headlamps on, it stuck back again in the vertical position!
