Clunk noise when turning Steering left or right?

Any suggestions on cause of this here please? Although after replacement of upper and lower steering arms both sides a few years ago this clunk still remained. The MOT failure - one faulty ball joint. The garage took advantage to go beyond this though. No pointers from following MOT's since then but it is perhaps becoming a bit more frequent. I took the L322 to a different local garage last week which couldn't find any fault , nothing loose or wrong etc. suggesting a MD have a look at it.

No steering issues when driving just this odd clunk now and again over the last four years? I assume I am safe but good to know if something does need changing.

Any comments welcome.
Thanks
Dave

Change the anti roll bar drop links, they are cheap and easy enough to do... Thumbs Up

That could be anything....

from wheel bearings to struts, suspension arms, subframe bushes, steering rack....etc etc...

As said drop links are the cheapest if you just want to change things..

Get it to a good independent Land Rover specialist they should be able to help... Thumbs Up Pete

Clunk noise

I’ve changed the anti roll bar bushes and link bars as suggested and agree that I have to find a good Independent. Just surprised that the garages I have used can’t answer it? Perhaps they didn’t look for sub frame bushes etc but it does handle well. I do have an Independent not so far away but he is known to be a bit of a rip off merchant.
Thanks guys
Dave

Clunk from the front

Thanks for the replies guys.
It’s making a fool of me now as I used it this morning and heard it three times? Having it looked at another garage tomorrow with me there as well, they might find something? I’ll update this post if anything resolved tomorrow.

Have you tried a wheel alignment? I had a clunk / knock from the rear right. Had it realigned after replacing the rear diff seal and the noise was gone!

Thanks vs322.
Just shows how difficult it is to identify those things. We confirmed at the garage Tuesday that the suspension at the front was ok. "Its the front right side" but not sure what after that. I'll have a check that things are tight when it cools down next week as the next stage. Pleased that my quote for two more lower end bars wasn't the fault and then still having the clunk after their replacement.

Good morning guys, we had exactly the same symptoms on the RR we "borrowed" for a year, it came with the knocking and I did most of the things mentioned above but still couldn't find it, then one day when the car went in for its MOT, the tester "found" the fault. It was a loose bolt on the steering rack, a quick tighten up and, noise gone!!
So it could be something as simple as a loose bolt. Borrowed Grey 2002 3d 204k for a year
Now own a 2007 Java black Vogue SE 3.6TDV8 160k

Yes, it can indeed be something as simple as a loose nut. I thought it was the rear subframe bushes in my case. Glad it wasn't.
Another time I had a horrible knock on the front of my freelander. Garages and MOT could not pinpoint the source. Turned out to be a loose nut on the lower engine mount. Took only a quarter of a turn. Been quiet as a mouse ever since.
