Green Oval Garage - Vehicles For Sale

Hi all, just wanted to let everyone know that we are now selling vehicles. After the countless experiences we have had with customers who have just bought a new Land Rover and have been told that their new warranty will cover everything, only for it not to, we are preparing our vehicles to give the new owners 12 months (and hopefully more) trouble free motoring.

All our vehicles are prepared with this in mind. For more details please visit our website www.greenovalgarage.co.uk or click on the banner above.

We would appreciate any comments to find out where and how we can improve.

Many thanks,
Brian
Green Oval

morning brian, a 'bullet proof' warranty would be a very attractive selling point especially after you have gone through the vehicle with great detail.. ... - .- -.

You make a fair point Stan. The wider issue is that the warranty companies are wise to the tricks of the less scrupulous dealers who might not fix a particular fault during vehicle preparation, instead preferring to leave it to the warranty company after the sale has taken place. We all know this is fraud but it doesn't seem to stop certain places from doing it.

So, a properly prepared vehicle where the dealer has a good relationship with the warranty company would be a real bonus. It removes the uncertainty and would definitely challenge the genuine LR warranty and "Approved Used" scheme.

One of the things which keeps me in the main dealer network is exactly this. If I buy an Approved Used vehicle with the genuine LR warranty then I have recourse to Land Rover. They can't argue with their own schemes and products. But, if a properly viable alternative were to exist I doubt I would feel the need to remain within the main dealer network. Let's be honest, these are expensive and sometimes problematic vehicles and buyers like to know their warranty can be relied on. Cars are mechanical things which go wrong, that's accepted. Warranties should be bullet proof and not full of weasel words & get-out clauses.

Match up the above with well prepared vehicles and that would be a winning combination. Thumbs Up

Morning Stan, I know what you mean but no one does one yet to my knowledge. We all know how these cars work and how something can fail suddenly without warning.
Do you mean that we would benefit from doing our own 'in house' warranty and cover everything? And if so how long? At the moment we offer a 3 month mechanical warranty covered by ourselves no third parties.
The idea of preparing the cars as we do is to hopefully avoid any problems but we don't have a crystal ball. From a business point of view by the time we have prepared the vehicle to our standards we are working on thin margins, we have to make the purchase price attractive enough to potential customers. It's a difficult juggling act to say the least!
Really appreciate the input and welcome any suggestions.
Cheers
Brian

I wish I could write like that! We have found that the LR approved warranty doesn't cover as much as the 3 year one. Have you have any problems with them?

Thank you Brian.

So no, I've not had issues with LR Approved or LR Factory warranties. None that I'm aware of anyway, the dealer simply sorts out my issues.

I have had issues with Car Care Plan when they administered some of the LR warranties and it took a solicitor's letter to make them back down and pay for the repairs.

I guess my point was not so much about under-writing your own warranties but more about developing a solid relationship with a third party company. As I mentioned, I know of traders who knowingly sell a vehicle with faults and then encourage the buyer to claim on the warranty. Warranty companies are wise to this so even if something does genuinely fail inside the first 3 months they are loathe to pay out on the basis that the fault could well have existed at the time of sale, especially so with major failures. If you can somehow overcome that hurdle it would go a very long way.

This is why I don't have the confidence (yet) to step outside the main dealer network. If I buy a car, as I did recently, a 2010 L322 S/C Autobiography, I would rather pay a little more for the car knowing it is LR Approved Used with LR Approved warranty. That way if anything goes wrong I just go straight back to the dealer and ask them to sort it. I let them argue any issues with the warranty company because it's very clear, one of them has to get it fixed without cost to me, and I like a loan car too as it encourages them to fix things in a reasonable time frame.

In other words, I'm not in the middle of 2 companies (Dealer & Warranty Co) with both of them denying responsibility whilst I'm left without a car. That happens all too often in used car sales sadly and it's something I have no desire to become embroiled in so I effectively buy the problem away from me by staying in the main dealer network and paying more.

So if you can develop a solid relationship with a reputable warranty company, and are prepared to offer the kind of service which people like myself want (complete peace of mind) it seems you could tempt me away from the main dealer network.

Hope that helps.

Dom.

Just advertising for a customer. You can contact him directly to arrange a viewing as he is still driving it I believe.

I meant to ask, that since you're selling on some one else's behalf, there will be no warranty offered? Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue
