It's just jealousy Whistle When my TT was much newer (when I first got it) I'd get the obligatory 'hairdressers car' comments from people driving 10 year old Fiesta's.......

Ok I'll just go and sit in my beautifully trimmed leather cabin and listen to my bose sound system was always my response Rolling with laughter

As far as I'm concerned the L322 is most definitely not 'dated', heck the L405 only came out 15 months ago, L322's are still retailing at £50k Evil or Very Mad Now: BMW 640d M Sport, Alpine White
Gone: Range Rover 4.4 V8 Vogue, Zambezi Silver, Charcoal Oxford Leather
Also: Mk1 Audi TT 1.8T Quattro, Brilliant Black

if you had got out of a lovely mark 2 jag, and got your clubs out, would they have said, -coo, that's a bit old! or would they have said, -now that's a proper car!

you could always consider a cheap private plate. mind you, when a game of golf is about to start with my mates, a good bit of banter is sure to start off the atmosphere, as the pressure builds for the 1st tee-off. -then its a load of laughs and ooh-ahh's, and then its all downhill from there.

Can't add anything to the above comments really.

I think you're thick-skinned enough to let their petty comments wash over you. They're, if they are indeed GOOD friends, just teasing for Censored and giggles.

I do hope they were grateful for you carrying their clubs around. My golf is so bad that I would likely test-swing their drivers into a concrete apron. I did that, accidentally whilst teeing off, with my own many years ago*.

Happy to come along next year to 'assist' if you wish.... Whistle Wink Laughing

Sorry to say this Ryan, but what a bunch of nitwits (don't want to use stronger language amongst a distinguished group of ladies and gents of the fullfatforum). Dated is completely the wrong word for what the L322 really is. It is a Classic car that is going to still be looking gorgeous in a decade or two/three/four plus. Like the Classic, the L322 will remain unique in a brilliant way.

The fact that these "gentlemen" :
a. can't see that
b. think a L405 is the bees knees
c. drive the most unimaginitive of all vehicles
clearly shows that you have completely outgrown them by lightyears since leaving school. Don't worry, brilliance, wisdom and insight are not learned at school but come naturally and then need nurturing. Clearly this lot does not have any of them so nurturing would not have helped anyway.

For me the L322 is the pinnacle of Range Rover design and the only real link to the Classic. If I was a car collector, I would add the P38 and L405 to the collection but they are not as iconic and beautifully styled as a L322 and Classic and they will never have that magic that clearly attracts people with taste Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

Better hold onto it mate since it is the best you can get IMHO. But then I think I'm preaching to the converted here Smile MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

@Joker Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Bow down

I think the L322 with it's Art Deco Luxo Barge styling is pretty timeless.. I've had mine over 5 years and still smirk when I walk back to it. (impending gearbox failure/engine blow/explosion just to prove me wrong! Laughing )

To be honest I think I'd buy the Octavia/Superb before another faceless repmobile Audi!

+1....every time I walk towards my FF a grin appears...it's simply the best all rounder I have ever had the pleasure to own. I always wanted one as a kid and couldn't beleive it when I got mine

..everywhere you go, everybody knows exactly what it is...its classic iconic shape is admired the world-over...

I think original Classic and L322 are the best looking Range Rovers. L405 is certainly a better car and is just newer and for your friends newer is better, when there's a new model out of their repmobile they surely want the latest model and not be seen in the old one. But a Range Rover has a longer lifespan and looks timeless, not dated. Look at a Classic in perfect condition, it looks fab and very "old money". Love it! I think your friends are not very carminded, they buy cars like they would buy a washing machine, they see cars as consumer products which the Range Rover isn't. Time to make new friends!

And I would have explained to them that I don't like driving round with my arse on the floor with everyone else, in cars that are of no use if the White stuff comes down or there is a bit of a flood. I like to use my car all year round.

I'd suggest that they have not completed correct due diligence regarding their car choices, as a risk assessment would clearly show that they too should be in an rr. Obviously they have not thought it through !
