Thinking about swapping out

I'm thinking about selling my td6 2005 with 135k for a lower mileage tdv6/8 I genrally get 22mpg out of mine with the driving I do, it's not a massive problem but I don't think the sc is for me but most of the others seem somewhere handy, any advice? It's pretty tidy my RR apart from stone chipped bonnet???
I'll be keeping the wheels I expect as they've got cooper LTZ's on and I like them 👍

if yours is running ok then a conversion to the 2006/9 or 2010/12 models might be an option..certainly the TDV8 will be an improvement in interior and exterior...

[there's no tdv6 btw] ... - .- -.

It's just the mileage creeping up I'm slightly concerned about? I'm not worried about the looks as such?
Oh thanks for the knowledge 👍

Personally If I was to swap, I wouldn't swap to the same engine/gearbox combo as you already have, as you won't see any benefit (apart from lower milage) in terms of mpg or performance.

Has yours has all of the usual mechanical gremlins sorted? Such as gearbox? At the end of the day the engines are fairly robust, so that is where you are likely to encounter problems, 2-3k for a recon box if trouble strikes (choose wisely in terms of specialist) and you will be set for many more miles.

If you want extra performance I reckon you will be spending About £8-10k on top of the value of your car to get a decent tdv8 on an 08my (Which would buy you a lot of bits for the td6.) the performance benefit though is good, and the interior is slightly better and it would be the mid facelift. But it would still be an 6-7 year old car, with around 60-80k on the clock. So right in the zone for some gremlins to creep in...... Alternators, for a start.

Have a drive of a few and see if you think it's worth it! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Ok, for my 2P........

Who cares about mileage? I'd keep what you have, the TD6 engine (used in loads of BMW applications) is bullet proof and with good maintenance can do 300k easily. I have heard great things about the engine with a remap too. Put £2k in a bank account to buy a new gearbox for when that goes pop.

The TDV8 intrigues me (I'd quite like one) but in equal measures scares the hell out of me. Search on here for "TDV8 Turbo" and you will see why....

I ran a TD6 and SC side by side for a few months last year. The TD6 was no hardship to get back into at all, I liked that car a lot, it's just a shame that the GM 5L40-E gearbox is made out of mascarpone.

Just my view. Thumbs Up 2006 4.2 SC

Good point 👍 as far as i know the gear box is original! Think I might sort out my slow suspension by putting a new piston ring in it👍 other than that I love it 👍
