Possible discount on the android head unit

CONTACT ME IF YOU ARE THINKING OF ONE OF THE UNITS

I have been speaking with erisin and they are prepared to offer a decent discount if we can get an order for 5 or more units together.

Still in the process of getting the final cost for a unit +the 6m lead, but any discount is worth having ! Thumbs Up

Also interested, but would want Erisin to provide a little more in the way of installation instructions, especially the audio side of things (connecting up to existing etc.) Not an electrical or audio expert Wink .

As it stands at the moment these are not plug and play, you will have to bypass the DSP amp and run the unit direct to the speakers (it does have it's own internal amp)

AFAIK no one has managed to get the DSP amp to power up with this unit

There is the possibility that leaving the old head unit wired in will work, there is room for it behind the glovebox where the CD changer lives, but I don't think anyone has tried this yet.

I have mine wired direct to the cars speakers and although not as good as the original set up it sounds fine to me and others who have heard it, for the average person it would be fine, if you are a ICE guru you may notice....

If anyone wants to see or listen to mine I am more than happy to show you... I'm just west of Hull...

The units are much better than the earlier ones that were slow to respond to inputs, the IGO8 satnav is superb and the hands free is pretty good, it will run most Android apps so the sky is the limit for what it will do....

I sold my old head unit, GPS DVD, and cd changer on ebay and got back more than the unit cost so if you have the amp and radio to sell as well (mine were broken) you will come out in front....

To do a neat install you have to remove the passenger seat and lift the carpet down that side from the dash to the boot so it is a bit of a job if you haven't done it before...

Anyone who wants to come to mine and do it here is more than welcome and I can give you a hand to sort it, or if you want me to do the whole install then send me a PM... Pete

it can be plug and play(ish) with a bit of cheeting

mine works without ripping the old amp out and totally re-wiring the whole audio system but i did put the origanal head unit in the glove box to keep standard the amp working and wiring un modified (i dont like cutting into the wiring into these vehicles because it tends to lead to problems in the future)
im sure there shoud be a little bit of kit nowerdays that fools the amp into powering up if you dont want the head unit in the glovebox(have not looked into this because im more than happy with my set up)

im sure the android unit will fit and work much the same as the privious S60 model does in my car

New I'd seen that somewhere.... so as I understand you plugged the long lead from the new unit through a handsfree phone piggy back plug setup so you had the radio plug plugged in?? Pete

It's what I was getting at in the other thread. Piggy back the existing system. From looking at the plug for phone in the BM54 loom, I still recon you'd only get mono sound. The phone only uses a single channel feed.

You could mod the parrot loom to work better to hi fi needs I would have though.

That is if you want stereo sound of course...... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

the mono bit of the parrot adapter is not used so you get the full DSP sound
i only used the parrot thing because i had the parrot handsfree kit already fitted to the car (now redundant because of the handsfree in the headunit)

im sure there is other adapter leads you could use/find but its a bit of trial and error,it worked first time for me so why should i look for something else to try

this was an easy(ish) mod to put a far more user friendly touchscreen unit in a very nice vehicle without hacking the wiring about, causing future problems and lowering the re-sale value
1 wire is all that needs to be joined the the vehicle loom (12v aux) the rest is plug and play

it works for me ,sound is as good as original, because i am using 99% of the original equipment also very easy to put back to standard if needed/or you wish

If all you need is a phone adapter loom to interface to the existing systems then it makes things much simpler, as you say.

Have you kept the original head unit then, to keep the amps powered on, or is that achieved through the adapter too ? 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8
