water trapped around tailgate

Hi chaps,
after washing the FF today, I opened the top tailgate and water seemed to have been trapped along the top rail and poured down the sides (outer edges of the rubber seal.

I have checked the top and there was a little bit of debris but nowhere near enough to block the amount of water that was there.

Does anyone have a fix for this?
cheers
jake

As Craig said, they all do it, always open the boot and bonnet after washing mine as it collects under the bonnet trim as well.... Pete

I have learnt, by flooding the car a few times, if you pause half way through opening the upper tailgate, all the water will run down the sides and not in to the car. I think that the rear spoiler / high level brake light housing is really an aquifer for the hotter regions, that Land Rover sells too. After all I can see that having an extra 10 gallons of water on board would be a good selling point, but over here it's just a soggy pain when you forget and open the tailgate too fast! Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... I'm in the habit of opening the tailgate not too fast with one hand and when there is a few inches gap, reach in with the other hand to fold the Ivory parcel shelf out the way quick.......

.... A bit like I was catching an imaginary snake.....

Playing lots of video games can also help your reactions here, so investing in a PS4 can be justified if you use man maths.

Yep.... Thay all do that sir!

Open boot slowly, to prevent filling car!

As an aside but in similar vain, I had a bit of a Eejit moment the other day in the McDonald's queue. Was paying for breakfast in the disco, in the pouring rain, and they have rain diverters over the service hatches, pulled forwards needless to say I hadn't wound the Censored window up quick enough and got a lap full of rainwater off the roof being diverted straight into the car! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
