United Kingdom 2017 Range Rover Vogue TDV6 Corris Grey

Wow! That’s cheap, especially for London.
In Sunderland, reported this week as the “cheapest city to live in the UK” the Indy charges £120/hour, -plus VAT!
For my last service, the MD was £100 cheaper, (but made a total arse of it & overfilled the oil, had the cheek to charge me for it, too!) Shocked “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

The indy I use charges 75/hr+VAT, but he makes his money up by charging me 140 +VAT for the new oil and 40 to dispose of the existing.
I'll be buying my own oil in future, Shelll Helix is only 33 for 5L on Ebay so 2 are only 66!
Think 200 for front pads alone is a bit steep even if they are brembo.

I'd like to see where you can get the correct grade shell helix for that price mate. It has to be C1 spec.

Scotland 2012 Range Rover Westminster TDV8 Fuji White

£135 for 20 litres https://www.costco.co.uk/Tyres-Automotive/...s/p/338360

Engine oil, I change it every 5000 miles, am sure as s*** not going to pay top wack for it.

I keep a spare tub for old, when full, council tip, no charge.

Sometimes down at the garage you just want to be Gunnery Sergeant Hartman out of FMJ when picking up the car, but then reality creeps in and you just bend over instead. Fuji White 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westmiinster

Are you sure that's low ash oil suitable for dpf's mate. I thought it had to be C1 spec.

Don't really want to argue this point but that is the wrong oil. It should be AF-L mate. 'L' for low ash.
Shell Helix is now superceeded to AJ-L.

I've got all the bills for my car, and the AF is what is on the invoices, but a quick look on Ebay will get you this!

When it's due for it's next service I'll fine tune it with a quick call to my MD.
Regardless you still shouldn't be paying 170 for 10L of synthetic!

Ha Ha, low ash oil, is that a real thing ? Rolling with laughter

You do understand the concept of engine oil is to retain it in the engine right ? If you ahve concerns about the ash level of oil getting into your exhaust then you have bigger issues to worry about.

RRs are designed to go anywhere, good quality 5w/30, changed regularly is all it needs, you'll not get your fancy cherry flavour low ash, low fat, oilymachiato in the back of nowhere.

Army have engine oil, general purpose, for the use of, and that's about it.

Andy...... Thanks
Was just making the point that I've been overcharged.
I take the point that the low ash is better for the dpf, but the 'wrong oil' would be Olive or F in Linsead. Can't think that it would be a disaster if it was AF-L or AF-Off!

Any road up, these engines fail due to design issues and poor or no maintenance, I bet you the majority of these failed engines have been MD serviced with big bills from new and they select all the lubricants.
Not wishing to labour the point but I am a Mechanical designer, and I regularly choose oils and lubricants in my job!

OK. If that's what you believe. Only trying to be helpful.
