LED door lights

Can you 'splice' (or whatever the term is) an LED strip into the door puddle lights so that the LED's only illuminate when the door is opened? I've never been impressed with the cheap reflective red sticker that faces rear wards when the doors are opened. I'd like to install an extra bright Red LED instead on each door.
Thanks in advance.

yes you can...i've stuck an led pad on top [or underneath] the lower door puddle light and wired it into the door light circuit..

i'd be careful you have clearance when the door is being shut though... ... - .- -.

Thanks Stan. I was thinking of a very slim line strip. Is it just a matter of buying 12v LED's and connecting red wire to red wire etc? Travelling around in circles again.

yep, that's all you need to do..actually that's a good mod and easy to do...

you could run the wiring up from the bottom puddle light tucked in between the door card and the metal door frame... ... - .- -.

Steve it's on the to do list. I just have to find the right sort of LED strip first. When I do fit them I'll post a complete set of photos. Very Happy Searching ebay now for the LED's. Travelling around in circles again.

Wire them to the lower door lights (bottom of the door panels) not the mirror puddle lights, as they only work for a very limited time when unlocked sir Bow down

i.e. if you leave the car unlocked for a while, the mirror puddle lamps won't work after approx the 3rd time the door is opened rendering all of your hard work wasted sir Bow down

I know you were Stan... Just stating the mirror puddle lights (that have there own dedicated plug, which is arguably easier to wire from) are not a good idea... Thats all pal... Bow down Bow down Bow down Thumbs Up
