Public says NO to celebrity endorsed cars!

Yes, LR would be well to rein in on their connections with Victoria Beckham for the Evoque according to car warehouse Motorpoint who surveyed 2000 people who were asked if they would buy a car that has celebrity endorsement - 2/3rds of those asked stated they would go out of their way NOT to buy a car with celebrity involvement! I was one of them - swiftly converted my depsoit for an Evoque next year into new to me FFRR this year as I couldn't stand the thought of driving a car with a Louis Vuitton and Burberry Tartan bling interior designed by herself......................... Now the FFRR has morphed into a 2012MY RREvoque Dynamic Lux Plus Auto SD4 Coupe in Fuji White with full ebony interior

I have to admit that I wouldn't either.
I hate the celebrity culture we have.

I'm confused........ Confused

What's a 'celebrity' and where is it's culture?

I've seen more culture on an agar plate Mr. Green The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom Smile

I'm a believer in someone being famous because they have some great skill or talent. Such as an Actor, Scientist, Pilot who saved the lives of people etc... not some silly tart that flashes the flesh or once slept with a footballer or was on a game show that only no-talent wanabees went on because they knew it was the only way to get on TV.

Agreed Fox but nowadays the later seems to get more rewards and fame

OK magazine, the world of Wags, Katie Price, and Big Brother have a lot to answer to

Well "Posh" or whatever you want to call her wouldn't stop me from buying the Evoque, it's not as if she had anything to do with the actual design of the vehicle ..........

Nearly every day products are endorsed by "celebs" that does not stop people buying them .....

She is mostly being used as a marketing ploy to attract coverage and publicity , which seems to working very well in LR's favour ......

I can see the argument from both sides, the whole celebrity thing does seem to be getting out of hand, however whether you like it or not in the current climate celebrity sells, I actually feel that Land rover / Range Rover, have got the Evoque launch spot on.

The launch that is going to be even more controversial is that of the new Defender, how do you launch a brand new version of one of the best loved and most iconic vehicles ever made?

One to think about ... Smile

And so far VB has only been wheeled out once for an Evoque event - I suspect LR got the message loud and clear " don't trade on Becks' connection with Range Rover, keep it low profile the car will sell on it's own merits"
I think Defender 3 or whatever they rename it as will not fail to sell if they get the price right - LR are good at replacing iconic cars with new cars that become icons themself - L322, Freelander2 and D3/4 have proved that. There were a few mutterings that L322 wasn't as appealing as P38A, but it has proved to be way more popular and anyway LR listened to those who wanted a P38A-a-like and launched the Sport, which, like it or not, has been phenomenally successful for JLR/Tata and brought in many new clients who would never have bought a Land Rover product and who have now seen the light. Now the FFRR has morphed into a 2012MY RREvoque Dynamic Lux Plus Auto SD4 Coupe in Fuji White with full ebony interior
