Tempted by a Disco

As you know I sold the defender a few months back but after recent shooting outings I can see sense in having an old Discovery 2 to go shooting in, I've seen a 2000 x reg 4.0 V8 auto ES for sale (as an example), all the toys, I could put some all terrains or mud terrains on it and not have to care if I end up driving through a hedge (yes it did happen and it wasn't my choice) or scraping my alloys in deep mud ruts etc, having wet muddy dogs in the back, other people who are wet and muddy.

I could pick one up for less than £2k, that seems like a lot of car for the money. Much cheaper than buying a Defender and loads more comfort and nicer to drive. Discovery 4 HSE

As Haylands has shown, L322's are getting into that territory now. Mine is certainly more a work vehicle than a luxury express.

Wouldn't you rather have an L322 than an ancient Disco?

Craig, that's lovely, i remember seeing it in LRO. I'd never want to get it dirty and the dog would fall out the back! Discovery 4 HSE

I had a 200MY 4.0 ES from 6 months old. Ran it for 80,000 miles and dare I say it was faultless, routine servicing and regular trips to the petrol man, really miss it Thumbs Up

I would think a D2 would be cheaper to maintain than an early L322. Sounds like a good idea to me. Thumbs Up

Nothing wrong with early late facelift D1 either, no ace, no air rear suspension....mine is faultless Mr. Green If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !!

Craig, your D2 looks amazing.
I'll be surprised if there isn't a queue for that when it comes up for sale.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you spend on it and what miles did it have on? Any service history etc? Private sale? Discovery 4 HSE
