Temporary Bonnet Cable

For those of you who have the misfortune to have the bonnet release cable break away from the pull handle in the footwell at an inconvenient time, Christmas Eve in my case, the following picture shows a simple temporary repair that at least allows you to get the bonnet up, if required, for a few days pending cable replacement instead of fiddling with pliers.
Materials, 200mm length of steel or copper wire and two 30A connectors with the insulation removed.
Simply remove access panel, pull the cable from the back of the housing behind the handle to give more access, connect piece of wire to cable end using connector, form a loop in wire using connector and pull to open bonnet. The connector screws need to be really tight. Thumbs Up
Trouble with a fix like this is it works so well it has a habit of becoming a permanent fixture.

Did something like that on my disco 2 but it was the tailgate door. Piece of clothes line through back seats attached to the handle and pull, stayed like it for 12 months or so till I came to sell it, then got it fixed Laughing
