Gearbox flush - Apologies

I was on eBay looking for a vortex crankcase breather filter and stumbled across a full gearbox flush for £260, no mention of the filter being changed.
I had my gearbox filter and oil changed approx 10K miles ago and it cost me £280. Obviously some of the old gearbox oil remained.
So here's my question, next time I decide to change the gearbox oil should I have a full flush or another filter and oil change.
I value your thoughts. Thanks Travelling around in circles again.

as the gearbox's are supposed to be 'sealed for life' , any oil change with new filter can only help in preventative maintenance...
i wouldnt worry about any small amount of old oil left as it will soon mix with the new stuff.. ... - .- -.

Can I ask what your gearbox oil change experience has been?

I bought a MY05 TD6 9 months ago and it is now on 113k miles and the gearbox appears fine. Its soon going in for the first service in my ownership and i'm trying to establish whether to fiddle with the gearbox by changing oil and filter or not Shocked

Was there any noticeable affect? and did you reset the EAT ECU or was it simply ok as was?

Thanks in advance, Cheers, Jon.

Something to point out here though. That "Filter" which everyone's going on about is actually a STRAINER !!

Think about the engine oil .................................................................

I cut my own filter open (Disco 3 6 speed ZF) after 115k miles, and the strainer was clean too. It's not a filter as we think of filters Thumbs Up

The strainer is there to catch big lumps. If you have big lumps floating around your gearbox, you would certainly know about it Shocked

It is advised by ZF, that the 6 speed and 8 speed boxes are FLUSHED between 50-75k miles.

As said, I changed mine at 115k miles. It has just ticked over 150k miles now, and the gearbox is Censored

Jon3929, I changed my gearbox filter and oil at 56k. It did feel smoother and quicker as a result. I'm coming up to 70k now and will either have a 'flush' or another filter and partial oil change sometime before reaching 75k as further preventative maintenance. Travelling around in circles again.

Hi jon3929, had my gearbox oil and filter changed at 119,000 mls, certainly made a difference, much smoother through the gears.
has your gearbox been changed, as mine was changed at 75,000 mls by last owner.

Thanks - I believe the gearbox is original.

I cant help feeling that an oil change would 'only do good' but clearly that's not the advice of the manufacturer.

Driving it earlier (and admittedly being super critical) I think its snatches a little bit in the lower gears but it really isn't an issue.

Just trying to work out whether to do the drain & refill or 'leave well alone cos it aint broke'! Shocked Thumbs Up

Cheers, Jon.
