as the gearbox's are supposed to be 'sealed for life' , any oil change with new filter can only help in preventative maintenance...

I cut my own filter open (Disco 3 6 speed ZF) after 115k miles, and the strainer was clean too. It's not a filter as we think of filters The strainer is there to catch big lumps. If you have big lumps floating around your gearbox, you would certainly know about it It is advised by ZF, that the 6 speed and 8 speed boxes are FLUSHED between 50-75k miles. Jon3929, I changed my gearbox filter and oil at 56k. It did feel smoother and quicker as a result. I'm coming up to 70k now and will either have a 'flush' or another filter and partial oil change sometime before reaching 75k as further preventative maintenance. Travelling around in circles again. |

Hi jon3929, had my gearbox oil and filter changed at 119,000 mls, certainly made a difference, much smoother through the gears.
