Maintaining Your Rear Box...

The question has a risen as to who keeps their rear box nice and tidy Shocked Shocked

This is mine Thumbs Up

So the question is, do you keep yours nice and tidy, or is it an OCD step too far ??

Clean answers only please, and we don't want to know anything about SWMBO's box either Shocked

when you consider that the exhaust box is very visible to road users behind you then yes it does need spraying..
a can of satin black spray paint and jobs done in 15/20 secs , no prep needed unless you've off roading.. ... - .- -.

I give mine a rub down and the apply a nice spray of black heatproof stove paint ( c/o B&Q) ...it works a treat. The wife does her own and keeps it nice and tidy as far as I can tell. GONE 2010 Facelifted 3.6 TDV8 - Stornoway Grey + 22" Overfinch Olympus

If you were to replace the rear bumper with one of these, you cover the unsightly rear end up Thumbs Up

I will admit to repainting mine, every time I looked at the car from over 10 feet away the back box jumped out and slapped you in the face. In the end I couldn't stand it any longer, so I took a wire brush to the box and removed all the flaky paint that was still holding on, degreased the box and sprayed it with some black VHT exhaust paint. Looks a thousand times better Thumbs Up , funny how a few silver spots can become so visible from a distance. And while I didn't go to the bother of rubbing down the paint to get a perfect finish, it looks fine when approaching the car from the rear, in fact you don't notice it any more Very Happy Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... I did all the prep and degreasing thing ... And then Stan pointed out he just pointed and sprayed, before chuckling himself to sleep - again - at my wasted time Laughing

I used Hammerite high heat paint (spray can) which is a Matt finish.

Ours has stood the test of a nigh on a couple of years and when done again soon, I'll use a black satin finish, as I think that would look even better.

They look terrible when flaking and a black paint/ exposed silver metal combo.

Cheaper than a fancy bumper Whistle

Thumbs Up

I had to attack mine with a wire brush cos it was plastered in mud. Those rear bumpers are a bit too much RRS for me, plus I'd have a bit missing most of the time as I tow, a lot. I suppose that it's down to what your using the car for, if you spend all of your time on the road, a body kit is OK. But if you take the car off road, like it was designed for, a body kit wouldn't last very long. I just remember the fancy spoiler that they fitted to the 4 door classic, first incline that the car went over, bye bye spoiler and driving lights Shocked hello stealers Shocked Shocked Shocked Very Happy
And they are still getting it wrong, I noticed, much to my amusement that LR recommend removing the lower front spoiler before going offroad, If its in the way why fit it ????????? Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!
