Snorkel

Up to now no one I know of has produced a snorkel for thr FFRR.

basically I want one for mine as I AM getting to the stage that sometimes I have to bypass an obstacle due to the possibilty of water ingress in to the air box.

Does anyone know if there has been a one off snorkel made for a FFRR or is anyone in the same boat as me and could do with one...........................

A couple of example of what i would like to do but wouldn't unless snorkled up

Engineering a special one for the L322 might be difficult as it is such a large intake apperture to cover - Mantec didn't even make them for the G4 L322's and an RRS one would be no use as the intake is smaller and the windscreen A pillar is more steeply raked for attaching it to. I'm not sure I'd want to go that deep without relocating half a dozen of the various ECUs to higher ground, just incase you grind to a halt when in the water. Not sure you should be reading this bit.

Most of the vehicles in pics you have shown as illustrations have raised air intakes designed to take air in above the dust line and not snorkels Thumbs Up
To get a true snorkel you have to seal all the pipework from the airbox to the snorkel itself....none of the landrover oem types give you this fascility on any of their vehicles, this is the D3 version:

And the latest Defender version:

Only the safari snorkels give you this fascility, mantec produce all the Landy ones Thumbs Up

Finally you can do everything at strata florida in a standard vehicle without an intake, ive done in many times in a multitude of vehicles Thumbs Up
The max wading depth on the FFRR will get you anywhere in the uk you will want to go as long as your technique is spot on and you create an appropriate bow wave so the water is below the intake, however as a previous poster mentioned, you might want to check the location of the major electronics before diving in so to speak, your main concern however will be the width of the lanes...do the strata and you will have fecked paintwork in no time Rolling with laughter Big Cry
