CTEK and GAPiiD

Don't know whether this is the right place. If not can you move it please, Stan?

I have an e-mail in to GAP but thought I would ask on here whilst waiting. When doing the Nav On the Move update, for instance, the information is to use a battery maintainer as it takes 70 odd minutes to do but not a battery charger .

My query is does the CTEK MXS 7.0 fulfill this function? Anyone know?

You need a charger with a "supply" function - the manual for the MXS 7.0 will tell you if it has this (off the top of my head it doesn't)

Martin, From the CTEK website for the MXS7.0 " It also has a power supply mode which allows the battery to be disconnected from the vehicle without losing important configurations. " Would that cover the requirement? John

The MXS 7 has a "supply" setting that gives a constant 13.6V output for use as a "float maintenance charging function" or as a simple 13.6V power source.

The 7 will be fine, providing your battery is fully charged, and in good condition to begin with Thumbs Up

GAP do say that the whole process can be done without any battery support, if done step by step Thumbs Up

I have the ctek 7 charger and an IID tool. Why does it take 70 mins ? Admittedly I have Navcoder and it takes less than 10 seconds to select the option and send to unit.

Don't mean to detract from the great tool that gap have developed..... Am I misunderstanding it ? 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

So it's a firmware upgrade rather than just a setting change ?

There is a CCF edit, which takes around 30 seconds, then 2 large firmware updates, at around 35 minutes each Thumbs Up

Nav on the Move won't work without the later firmware (and a later discs)
