Whoop - new android head unit, now reversing camera? (Help)

Hi guys

What reversing camera are people using with the android head unit?

Any help would be appreciated,

Also can you use the head unit as a dash cam?

Thanks guys

I'd buy the best you can afford, having said that I think they are a waste of time anyway, had them in the past and you can't use them to reverse because of the distortion with the wide angle lens... handy to spot kids or animals or lining up a trailer but not much use otherwise...

The unit comes with a dashcam app but you have to remember to set it to record every time you start up, there are a few other apps that I tried but they wouldn't work with the camera.... Pete

I've got an X5 after sales camera on mine, goes in place of one of the number plate lamps, But it wasn't a good fit so it had to be made to fit with a Dremmel Twisted Evil

The unit I got has an led in it to replace the number plate lamp, but it's not canbus friendly so I had to add a Ballast resistor to stop the Bong of Death and the Screen Of Doom, as they were doing my head in Laughing And all the wiring is inside the tailgate, so no holes to be drilled Very Happy

Would I do it again......... probably, was a bit fiddly to get it to fit and I've had to use a small screw on one side, but you can hardly notice it (the camera), and you can just make out the bumper in the bottom on the picture. So it's great for those rare occasions when the PDC decides to go do-lally, every day, except when it's really wet, and then it's intermittent Wink

Sort of a mixed blessing when it comes to hitching up, can see the tow bar fine, but it's slightly off set, which causes a wee bit of spacial distortion, so it's easy to miss, D'OH! But it does save you punching a hole in the bumper, and with practice you learn to compensate, eventually Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!
