Seat belt warning light

I notice I can drive away not wearing my seat belt. Is a warning light supposed to appear on the dash telling you this?

I see the light when I switch the ignition on, it goes out as expected shortly after starting but as I say I can drive with my seatbelt off and it doesn't light up or bong.

How do I switch it back on? I am presuming it is not straight forward and need a device of some sort?

ah great - good to know. What is the point of the seatbelt warning light then?

I was thinking if you unclip your seatbelt, it should come on?

Mine is the same, i.e. light on when started with airbag light then off until restarted. Nice not to have to put in a spare belt to turn off or have disabled at cost like on my last two vehicles. I wear the seatbelt on the road but continual bongs a pain when manoeuvring vehicles and / or getting in and out all the time.

What ever happened to the old trick of engaging and realising the buckle ten times in 30s to turn the warning on and off ?
People talked about it all the time seven or eight years ago here , my 55 TD6 bonged with out the belt in because i couldn't turn it off and wanted to . 2008 MY Supercharged

The bong is a right pain....even a curry bag on the passenger seat sets it off (i do like a big curry Mr. Green ) GONE 2010 Facelifted 3.6 TDV8 - Stornoway Grey + 22" Overfinch Olympus

ok weird. My other car nags me until I connect my seatbelt. I was assuming this car would be the same but since this is my first FFRR, I wanted to check.

Ok, its quite simple... 02-06 RR drivers didn't like to wear seat belts & LR didn't want to annoy owners with a bong! They lost ONE STAR in the ncap crash ratings because of it Shocked

2007> i guess seatbelt awareness was greater/more socially unacceptable and LR caved in to pressure and included the bong and collected there extra star Thumbs Up

Thats how i understand it Bow down

Plus they will have saved on the cost of fitting a sensor in the seat and the seat belt catches. No one is going to fit an unnecessary item, until it becomes law or affects sales (ie ncap ratings). Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!
