Anyone any info on the Freelander 2

As per my other post , wifey is looking for a white car or whatever , been perusing the AT site for a few hours , looked at various cars Inifiniti FX's , Mercs , Another XF , Jeeps , Audi's and Beamers but came across these Freelander 2's , anyone of you gents on here had one , are they any good or are they just the same as the Sports and L322 in terms of reliability .....

TIA Thumbs Up

IMHO Mick, they are great cars! They are comfortable, quite powerful and rewarding to drive... The JLR gods chose this platform for the EWOK for good reason pal!

Don’t get me wrong, its NO FFRR replacement! NEVER!!! But, in its own right Bow down Bow down Bow down

We've got an i6 HSE which we've had for a year now and are very pleased with it. It's comfy, reasonably quick, and corners well for the size of it. The i6 engine is lovely and smooth too.

Agree with what Craig says, it's definitely not something to replace a FF, but to run along side one, it's a great car. Thumbs Up

And with the new Disco Sport now out, prices should be heading in the right direction.

Unfortunately its a Land Rover so budget for a rear diff repair. Was going to be where I went after a FF but not so sure now I have spent some time on the freelander 2 forum. Mine was a blue one! Smile

United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Autobiography 4.2 SC V8 Buckingham Blue

My wife has a 10 plate HSE, with 70k miles it is a great car, I also use one at work.

Both cars have been trouble free barring an sensor failure on my wife's car. (DPF temperature)

They are a vast improvement over the Freelander one!!

The same platform is used on the replacement Discovery Sport, but wheelbase stretched a bit, the new engines are due out now/soon replacing the Ford/Peugeot 2.2 lump.

They are great to drive, but as said no FF. Regards

Had one for about 3 years (owned from 60-somethingk to around 130k) - early 56-plate. Great as a smaller LR. Not without their issues but, on the whole, considerably less costly to own than the larger vehicles. Only thing that went wrong on mine was the PAS pump and rack. Thumbs Up

Mine was written off in an accident while towing a horse trailer (complete with horse) and the protection offered was excellent. Bow down

(For anyone interested - We were hit between the trailer and car from behind by the third party. Spun 180 degrees and the trailer came over, nearly swiping another vehicle and ending up upside down in the hedge. All 3 vehicles involved plus the trailer were written off but everyone involved, horse included, came out as good as unscathed! Shocked Smile ) Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK
