Electrical Gremlins

I have a 07 Vogue TDV8 that has a couple of annoying problems, firstly the steering column occasionaly does not drop down when ignition switched on so have to manually adjust, then sometimes with the engine running and I get out of the car to unlock my gate the steering drops to its lowest position. Evil or Very Mad
I then have to reach over and bring back to correct position before I can get in.

Other problem I have is the battery randomly going flat, sometimes after being left overnight, this has failed 3 times in the last 2 months.

Dealer has replaced motor in steering column and checked alternator and battery and can find nothing wrong with any of these items.

The other strange thing is that when the steering does fail to drop down I have noticed the headlights flash on briefly!!!!

Anyone have any ideas as the dealer is also struggling to sort this.

Thanks for any advice in advance

I assume the dealer checked to make sure there wasn't a high battery drain from anything?

Does your car have a tracker?

My only advice is that while its under warranty don;t let the dealer fob you off, keep taking it back, if neccesary get Land Rover themselves involved via their Customer Services dept. Discovery 4 HSE

Car is fitted with a tracker full fat not diet is there issues with these?

Also I am pestering the dealer about this as I have 18months warranty left - they have done checks on battery drain and all ok - I have also had this verified by my own electronics guys that work for me and they verify that battery drain is minimal once the systems have shut down - obviously something is remaining switched on at random times.

The only reason i asked was when i had a battery drain it hightlighted as a problem with the Sat Nav which was then highlighted that this was possibly caused by the the Tracker electrical feed off the Sat Nav. This problem hasnt been solved yet but will be on the next visit to the garage but a temporary problem was to disconnect the Sat Nav to stop the drain. So far this was sucessful.

For the record i originally sent this to the main dealer as i had replaced battery and was concened. They said alternator was fine and couldnt see a problem to the warning light but just said they reset it on the computer and everything ok. Within 24 hours of them having car and saying alternator ok that the car broke down at a main busy junction with my wife and young family aboard in a precarious position. AA eventually arrived and diagnosed Needs New Alternator !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow was i impressed with the LR Main Dealer. Within days of this i got a survey in the post C/o dealer asking me about my experience. Due to my health i thought it better not to complete as i have a lack of tolerance to incompetence.

Thanks for that full fat I will get tracker connection checked - I have had a couple of false calls over the past few months from tracker so this may be related and worth having checked.
