Scotland 2017 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Loire Blue

I've looked at a few ABs and quite a few of them don't have climate seats, so it doesn't always mean that an AB is specc'ed higher than a VSE. Apart from the 5.0 SC, which has everything Thumbs Up Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

That must be the older Autobiographies.

I believe Autobiography was introduced as a mainline derivative from 09MY.

10MY+ Autobiogaphy models, regardless of engine, have always had a higher interior spec regardless of options e.g. Full leather interior including door cards and leather headlining.

If you have seen an 09MY+ Autobiography without climate seats, the only part that is 'Autobiography' about that particular vehicle is the badge!

I was referring to older cars. I was just making an observation for potential buyers of "older" ABs to be aware that being an AB doesn't guarantee a higher spec level Thumbs Up Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

Indeed...even though Autobiography was seen as more 'exclusive' in the earlier years. Very strange.

Setting the HSE aside, I still maintain that when secondhand it makes little difference to the value. I didn't buy mine because it was an AB, I bought it because it was red and I've always wanted a red one. And I didn't pay any more for it than any one of the Vogues of the same vintage which were on offer at the time.

I always want the Autobiography spec and have always been prepared to pay a premium.

There are thing like the leather dash that one doesn't get on other specs no matter how loaded.

I think all options are worthless once one drives it out the showroom - they may make the resale easier.

However, I'm not normal - I'd never want RSE so I wouldn't pay for it but others would.

iPad holders make RSE look like an in-car gramophone.

On the L322, the extra leather is surely the big Autobiography attraction.

The AB will be easier to sell on after the 4 years. I think most people, when looking online, will put in a trim line, but not specific options as they're harder to search for. If a buyer MUST have a particular option, he may well look just at the models which have that option as standard.

For example, if I was looking for an L405 now (I'm not) I'd want cooled seats (because my L322 has them) and the pano roof (just looks cool). If it came with the uprated stereo, that would be a bonus.

As someone who buys a lot of cars the rules are quite simple

Spec always beat options as they are typically factored to zero save for Met, Lthr & Sat

Option packs enhance RV's as cap codes can be applied option just increase desirability

See simple

IMO, the 10.2" RSE is superior to an iPad.

Spec/Version makes a big difference to the future value of your purchase while options only make very small differences but add to desirability of course.

Here are the differences in trade value for the same car 2010/10 4.4 with 50k (average) with different versions:

VOGUE: £26755
VOGUE SE : £28810
AUTOBIOGRAPHY: £31890
AB BLACK: £32757

As you can see version makes a BIG difference.
