Tyres opinions please

Hi ... now had a read through and seen similar posts but thought I would ask for specific opinions (current) from the been & done it viewpoint ... Its tyre changing time soon .... not through wear but through feathered edges on front ... now in the uk you are allowed a certain edge feathering but not so here the tread has to be uniform all the away across ... and our quality roads promote even wearing all of the time ..... NOT... so when i got the car 13 mths ago had all the geometry sorted properly and put the feathered pair from the front on the back ... now i don't cover loads of miles ... poss 5K since but am looking now to replace the back two first then repeat the swap round then again till i end up with all 4 again in pair increments (hope that makes sense) ... question is what way to go ?? i have 20" SC alloys (I think) and have scorpion M&S winter tyres .... if I replace with these they are a Censored fortune.... my option include same ... Conti all weather.... Nexan ... up till yesterday when I discovered that Scorpion M&S summer are app half the price of the winter version ... so that's another option ... don't go off road but by the same token it is a 4x4 so I wouldn't want to put "racing" tyres on it

Thoughts and opinions most welcome ..... Confused

Conti's are renowned for scrubbing the edges, so avoid those at all costs.

I've always found the Michelins good - but I only in them for the summer - and Vreds for the winter, so can't comment on their winter performance.

Vreds tend to scrub the outside edges too.

^ Ken 75% of the "Contis" L322's I take in have completely scrubbed off edges but can have 5-6mm of tread. It a well know problem with Conti's on L322's I would never fit them. Seems to be too much weight on outside edge on fast roundabouts or similar. Design fault of the tyre on heavy powerful cars. Its no a an old wives tale....

Some have reported doing some very high miles on Vreds.

I agree the Conti's on mine were fine in the middle (4+ mm) but the outside edges had worn away to nearly bald, the Pirelli's I had on before worn fine and worn evenly. I use Conti's on the M5 and they are fine no uneven wear. Very Happy

Your obviously a very good driver then Stan and do not "Attack" roundabouts in a 2.5 Ton 4x4 the way some do...

Every set of contis I had lost the sides very quickly - bit miffed that LR equipped both my new vehicles with them, but hey! They do last however, just look naff as you only need 75% tread coverage by law. Land Rover Addict
