This happened to my brother whilst on holiday in Spain, he was talking on his phone at the time and someone whipped it out his hand from behind him and legged it, my brother is super fit but could not catch the guy from a standing start.

Wow. Do you have blacklists in the UK. They are finally implementing them here. All cell carriers will check the list for stolen phones and refuse to allow one to access their network. Apple also has that 'Find my phone' thing. Don't know much about it, but phone thefts are down significantly.

UK networks do block stolen phones but most blocked phones get sent to India where they change the imei numbers and re-import them back to the UK.. ... - .- -.
