Info please

My sound system seemed to stick last night! Couldn't turn volume up or down or shift from cd to radio?? Did turn the screen off on the way home? Would that have any significance??
Hopefully when I go out this morning, normal service will resume??

Thanks in advance

I had exactly the same thing happen to my satnav unit a couple of weeks ago. Set off early one morning to go from Home downto Chorley, the cd wouldn't change to radio (although I could change cd's on the touchscreen, none of the steering wheel controls worked and couldn't adjust the volume at all. Stopped for a coffee at Killington Lake services, when I restarted the FF after about 10 minutes...normal service resumed and everything worked perfectly Confused .

I just put it down to a glitch (possibly software related, like when a computer 'hangs') that reset itself once the engine and electrickery had been shut off.

All good now, so not unduly worried. Thumbs Up

Mine did exactly the same the other night coming home! Tried turning the car off & on again but needed to wait 10mins for the system to go to sleep and all started up fine again! Bizarre Rolling Eyes

Hmmmm, that's a bit weird. Shocked

I wonder if it could be anything related (or similar) to the problem encountered when the 4G service was started up a year or so back, when the satnav systems were shutting down and restarting after a second or so because of the signal interference. Not had that problem reoccur, but for the same 'glitch' to happen to three FFs at once seems a bit too much of a coincidence.

Thoughts anyone? Whistle

its more likely that its not getting the correct voltage on startup and therefore not switching on properly..a bit like the screen which sometimes will switch on dull then when you restart with a healthier battery, its ok.. ... - .- -.

I've had the same thing as Craig, where I needed to let it all shut down totally.

I also had a thing where the auto volume level kept increasing on the motorway but that settled down after turning the source off with the standby button Rolling Eyes

That's a good point you make Stan, it could be voltage related, but I've never had the dull screen glitch though. On the morning in question that this glitch happened to me, it was quite cold but didn't have any problem starting the FF and didn't get any HDC Inactive warning. I didn't notice any problem with the system till after I had been driving for about 15 minutes (I had got on the M6 and went to turn up the volume),.

It's just a bit strange how this particular glitch has only ever happened once (so far!), never had any problem exactly like that before or since. I have had the odd occasion where, on stopping and restarting the FF after refuelling, etc., the cd player hasn't come on and I've had to press the 'On/Off' button on the satnav to restart the cd player, and experienced the 4G Signal 'cut-out' problem when that was ongoing a year or so back (again, that seems to have resolved itself, mysteriously, as never got any definitive answer or solution).

Probably is just a Gremlin...
Just need to remember not to feed the FF after midnight or get her wet! Rolling with laughter

I had it once after I accidentally set the alarm off, no screen, no radio control and no camera although radio worked. Driven about 10 mins, parked up and when I came back all working fine. There is a difference between knowing your sh!t and knowing you're sh!t

Just another FFRR idiosyncrasy. Happens from time to time. Switch off and then back on usually cures it. Adds to the personal relationship with the car. Very Happy John

I'm glad it's not just me! Mine froze the other night, turned it off and on again and got a black screen no sound. Like Craig, worked after the 10 minute nap! Laughing My Previous RR's!
