IID Tool BT and disco 3

Embarassed

I bought a second viin code for my mates disco 3 and activated it so he could change a few things on his car... (indicator 3 blinks, dlr etc)

None of them worked and now his radio is stuck in Phone Mode and won't work.

How do I feel now..... I broke his car.... Ash

IIRC the firmware for the IIDTool is different for the FFRR and the Disco.

Hi Chex - The IID BT is compatible with multiple vehicles so should be ok.

@Stan - will try that but he has gone away my charge to recycle his battery - I've read some posts that suggest low voltage sends it into power save mode. After that will try the disconnect or fuse 53 pull.

Just feel bad cos it was fine before we started.... Embarassed Ash

no - can't when updating the CCF. It wants to turn the ignition off and on and ask that the engine is off and ignition is in the on position.

Having read further docs, it appears that the ECUs have to be flashed to the latest version for the updates he wanted but will wait until it has a full battery charge before trying... I hope he's not too miffed about not being able to use the stereo though

must be different for the disco cos you can [and its best to] have the engine running when you play with the ccf on the FF.... ... - .- -.

Land-Rover dealers have a 'battery support unit' hooked up to the cars when they're doing a diag session. It's basically a mains battery charger with additional stuff to prevent it frying electronics. Hooking up a second battery with jump leads would have a same effect though.

Thanks Zirconblue...

I read that also so may try with a second battery if needed.

It does seem a shame that no matter how good out cars are, it's an issue if we "have the doors open to clean the inside" cos the battery can't handle it..! I suggest LR need to look at not starting up all the electronics unless the engine is turned on. Can't see me needing things like air suspension or cameras etc just to sit in the drive... Ash

WOW - Thanks Patrick for all your assistance tonight. Went through various things and resets etc... all guided by Patrick and now my mates D3 is all up and running. All updates made (DLRs, clock on display, 3 flash etc) and his radio is back again.

I take my hat off to Patrick from GAP - he knows his stuff and is more than willing to help out when things go bad.

A really great team over there...

Many Thanks Patrick...!

Patrick and the guys at GAP even went as far as adding in a few options into the CCF options, to rectify issues caused by another diagnostic tool. And they were only too happy to help.

I suspect they like the challenge! Laughing
