Looking at a TDV6 Vogue currently, I have quote from the dealer as follows:

Cost - £73134
Depost - £22000
APR - 6.9%
GFV - £36946
Monthly (x36) - £660.15

Is it worth shopping around on that quote with 3rd parties or is Land Rover finance likely to be the best place?

I would always shop around - it doesn't take that long and it's the only way to stop wondering what if....

Also depends on future cash flow etc etc. - will you want to pay of some or all of it before the end of the term ? Those kind of fees can make a significant difference & vary by provider.

At 6.9% APR then I suspect there is quite a lot of room for negotiation. Haggle hard.

The beauty of a PCP is that you have lower monthly payments but look at the overall holistic cost. £73k+ is a lot of money, you may get a better deal by arranging finance elsewhere. You may not have such a low monthly payment but you will almost certainly improve on that APR. Given the sum involved here is there any merit in talking to your mortgage provider?

Another approach could be to say you're OK with the deposit and you're ok with the GFV but for this to work the monthly payments need to be in the high fives. After much head scratching and sucking of teeth they just may find a creative way of brining the APR down if they want to shift the car.

Somebody in the know once said to me. "NEVER finance a depreciating asset". And whilst I've ignored his advice on several occasions, I do think it's a very valid point!

I am prepared to accept the cost of ownership and that I suppose is what I need to be OK with, granted its the most I have ever spent on a car so I want to get the best deal I can.

Anyone with recent experience if LR Finance will drop the APR?

LR are very unlikely to budge on the finance rate as prior to Q1 2015, it was 7.9%.

just been quoted 6.9% at Dealer..... and 4.1% through Lombard business finance

Long time lurker, but picking up a 13 reg tdv6 l405 next week (pictures will follow), using the dealer for finance, as they have been able to match a quote from Oracle at 5.7%, so there is definitely flexibility.

I too would love to buy an L405 with cash, and I too have shyed away from finance in the past.

It's a lot of money to shell out each month, in fact it's a second mortgage!

If you can extend your house mortgage (my rate is just over 2%) that's a cheaper way to finance it, plus you can sell at any point and are not limited by mileage penalties etc.

When you see the amount of new cars on the roads, theres no way everyone is buying with cash, they are all financed somehow, but then if finance on a RR was cheap, it would mean all the scrotes would be driving them! Discovery 4 HSE

Virtually everything is on tick - you can get into a Sport for about £600 a month, the industry would collapse if people actually had to be able to afford them. Paying interest on a depreciating asset doesn't seem very clever though.

Always remember, capitalism wouldn't work without finance! Finance also works as a form of population control, because the majority of us have to go out to work to afford the repayments. If you're going out to work, your probably paying taxes too, governments like taxpayers..............

I know that the following isn't answering your question, but it is related, sort of...

I don't have any issue with people financing big ticket items, and accept that sometimes it is better to maintain liquidity. But for me i decided to buy mine outright on account of me not being able to achieve a better return than the 6.9% it would cost to finance with simple investments.

also, the lack of that money won't stop me doing whatever i want (investment wise) in the medium term so i decided to pay for it.
