Wading....... How deep do you go?

Its rained here for what seems like days and on a journey home this afternoon i was faced with this :

A local brook has flooded the road completely Shocked

The dilemma...

Do i risk it and be brave or do i turn around and find an alternate route?

I decided to risk it, So suspension up and off i went gingerly.

At the deepest point it went well over the side steps on the highest suspension setting and i estimate at at least 2 1/2 feet or more.. Bow down

I know thats probably not alot even without a snorkel but it left a very big chuffed smile on my face and surprised the car behind that i was even trying Thumbs Up
Even the Mrs was laughing and asked if we could go back through it Laughing Laughing Laughing

Back in love with the FFRR again :D

The wading depth is to the bottom of the side intake so you were only at half wading depth at offroad height and up to the side steps!! I used to keep a garden cane with an elastic band at the 70cm wading depth in my Defender until I had the snorkel (and it is a waterproof one, not a raised intake that I have) now I worry more about drowning the battery and driver............................. 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

Half way!!!!

Jesus!!!

Not sure I'd bottle going much deeper unless I was behind another confident RR driver. I was a little concerned about hydrolock. TDV8 HST Sport **Current**

The wading depth is in the dimensions section of the handbook, I had my last one up to the base of the intake and it didn't leak a drop of water into the interior, unlike my Defender where I get wet shoes every time it rains!

BTW before you go wading it is recommended by most LRE's and offroad driving manuals that you put your wellies on and walk through the water first............................. 70cm is much more than welly boot depth, nearly waders limit so the warning depth is where the water comes over the top of the Wellington boots! 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

After today I'm considering a set of off road tyres and going green laning!

I should really have known the RR could handle way more!

The Mrs had her wellies on too, maybe she should have walked ahead lol TDV8 HST Sport **Current**

LOL, 70CM my left tit. As long as you keep a decent bow wave going you can easily get her halfway up the doors. Just don't stop halfway through or you'll be Big Cry Big Cry

The 70cm bit comes from being stood still but with a good bow wave the front can be running over the bonnet before the bit by the air intake is below water. Yes, I have done it, and yes, it did draw a (small) round of applause from the bystanders. I used to do the same ford in my D3 which was just as capable although I had a rad curtain fitted to that being a petrol model. Spark ignition is rather less forgiving of miosture.

For anyone who fancies trying check out www.wetroads.co.uk and look for something near you.
