Bizarre steering wheel wobble

My 2007 tdv8 has done this twice now. Driving along at about 50 and all of a sudden there's about an inch of wobble in both directions. It does it for a few seconds then goes back to normal.

A quick Google shows the valve for the steering as a likely culprit - am I on the right lines? I've just sat on the motorway for half an hour and it's perfectly smooth then all of a sudden a wobble then gone. It last did it a couple of weeks ago.

All tyres / discs / calipers fine.
Edited to add; when it does it, the steering is "steppy" or notchy - then it goes away.

I checked all those and replaced a lower arm very recently. The feeling of this is very immediate on and off and feels hydraulicy through the wheel. What level should the pas fluid be at?

i seem to have this issue also around 50-70 there seems to be a vibration or lumpiness i thought maybe a wheel balance issue, but im replacing rear discs and pads this week, but pulling away and under load its perfect just at motorway cruising speeds it noticeable

"5mm spacers cast and not turned"

where, what, how ? Is this on the brakes? .

A tired Power steering pump would probably do it, or if the belt is slipping.

Just to round this off, as another poster mentioned I had a sticking caliper. Changed it and no more issues.
