04 hse speaker upgrade 6.5 speaker issue

Hi guys. I've had a good search everwhere now and haven't found anything that can help me. 2004 hse Australia spec. I have a non Harmon kardon system. I can't even see an amp installed. I have a Chinese non android ebay head unit. I changed the 3 inch speakers to Bostons and they sound amazing. I changed at the same time to 6.5 focal auditor r-165c. 2 way. 4 Ohm. Big Cry front door speakers if you ain't guessed.

they sound very very poor. Muffled. Low volume. Some bass. No / very bad or low mid range. Connections are good. Not wired wrong.

I thought that I could just swap out these speakers. But apparently not.

I dont know much about car audio. My upgrade plan was just replace all the speakers. Can anyone shed any light on what I might I've have wrong?

Disappointing end to the day. Oh and someone black siliconed the front dash centre speaker grill on. Probably because it rattled. It's off but what a mess. Big Cry

I can't find anything definitive on the ohm of the stock speakers. If it's 8 like a post I found says and these are four. Ohms law says it draws more power yeah? by drawing more are they overloading the head unit and subsequently there underpowered?

I don't know and just throwing that idea out there.

You need to do a few more tests.... Do they sound good if all other speakers disconnected ?

Can you drive them ok with the rear feeds ? Ie the top ones in the front doors on the front feeds and those troublesome ones in the front doors driven by the rear channel amp......

Just trying to see if the number of speakers per amp channel is the issue.

Also, it's worth remembering that the centre dash speaker feeds from the front feeds, negative from one side and the positive from the other side, so try it with that plugged back in....

I don't have an HSE or an aftermarket head unit so can't help much more I'm afraid......
