Nokia in car phone holder

Just thinking instead of having to pair my iphone every time I get in the car can I just get an old nokia phone and put it in the car holder and just leave it all the time with a pay as you go sim card in for car use only.
If so what phone would I put in and would it pair up every time by itself and then would I get my contacts up on the touchscreen and what would it do to the battery if left for a long time.

@Steve9bug, is your FF fitted with the touchscreen nav system and do you already have a phone cradle fitted in the upper cubby of the centre console? It might be worthwhile double checking what phone type the cradle is for, should be a part number and other info on the underside of the cradle if you release it from the console.

The reason I'm saying that is because I've got a centre console cradle and a Sony Ericsson T610 phone fitted in my MY05 model Touchscreen nav TD6 Vogue (got the items as a pair off fleabay for a bargain), and set it up with a PAYG sim. It works a treat.

Can you not alter that in the settings on the phone? Don't know about the iPhones but I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 and it pairs automatically. It was in the phone settings somewhere. John

Sorry I may have misunderstood your last bit but I used my GAPiiD to reflash the bluetooth module as it was, initially, not working properly. I wonder if that is an option for you?

My FF is also a late registered 2004 (MY2005) with touchscreen. John

I had a cradle left over from one of the previous RRs it's a nokia, and nothing in the 07 my I bought. Found a 6230i on the French flebay for 25 euro, bought a sim and the phone is in the car for ever. It works on the screen and through the steeringwheel switch, I copied all my contacts on to the sim and Im only phoned by those who have that number.
No brainer for me.

You could always put on a call redirect from your main phone to the phone in the car. Will obviously only work with incoming calls.
