Vision Assist Pack

Currently still shopping for a car. 2010-12 4.4TDV8 with 8 speed box.

For us a must have is the vision assist pack. We like the surround camera and the blind spot monitor. Unsure if it adds anything else but we read the venture can only works with the vision assist pack too. Ideally that would be great to me to stick a camera on the tin tent as sometimes I'm on my own with it.

Anyway as some people never ordered it from new it is hard to find the ideal car.

Question is can it be retro fitted easily?

I know the cables are available online and probably the cameras too. I'd imagine it would just be a case of enabling the feature on the computer.

Please help car shopping has become a nightmare.

Hi there are a couple of threads on retro fitting venture cam - it can be done but no small job. as for the rest of the vision assist pack you are looking at new wing mirror surrounds and front cams. Plus there is also the tow assist function of the VA pack - I suspect some electrical jiggery poker required then plus of course all the CCF configs etc.

In short venture cam yes - rest of it doubtful and in any case very expensive.

Better off getting the right car in the first place.

We tow a caravan, a trailer and I'm sure the Mrs is after a horse box. Forgot about the blind spot probably also needs sensors to work properly.

Reading the manual you can setup the system for multiple trailers so for us overall the pack is with more to us than most.

At present we are waiting a call back from another dealer so fingers are crossed the numbers are ok.
It'll probably end up either A) more expensive to retro fit or B) probably won't work correctly after I fit it all.

There is a cheapish hack that one of our Aussie forum members utilizes. Buy a cheap suction mount, stick a cheap older smartphone in it and us it as a Venture Cam to stream to your "normal" smartphone Smile. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

Hi, my newly wquired 2012 TDV8 has this Vision Assist with Trailer aid system.
Works a treat and its good fun using those cameras around the vehicle.

I have not actively searched for it (nor for the whole vehicle) but it was a nice
add on. The HD Logic 7 with 1200 Watts was more welcome... Thumbs Up despite slightly dissapointing me on the bass/subwoofer quality.

Back to camera system:
you can actually save profiles for a couple of trailers and the system helps you find the correct trailer type.

I do not have the venture cam though. But as I only very randomly tow a RIB I can live with this missing bit as I am able to look along the RIB on both sides with th erear view mirrors.

Assuming the car has the VA pack from build. Would it have the charging point for the venture camera built in?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but was the Venture cam actually available on 2010 onwards? I'm not sure it was TBH. I thought is was only up to 2009MY.

Certainly my 2010 and 2011 Autobiographies have neither the the camera or the dock in the top glovebox.

Doing research on this I came across this link - no mention of venturecam.

You're quite right Vision assist was never offered with a Venture cam but in the CCF of 2010> cars the companion camera file can be found leading people to think all you need is a charger and loome as well as a venture came to activate it in the CCF but I have no idea if anyone has succeeded. 2008 MY Supercharged

I have got VA on my 2010, 2011my.

The blind spot monitor is turned off when you connect a trailer.

The reversing camera cannot see the tow ball so no help when hitching up.

The sticker for the trailer assist is huge, about A4 size, so I would not want it on the front of my caravan, I can reverse a trailer anyway and if it is that difficult I would use the caravan mover.

You can have the cameras on whilst driving but it does not really help and may make you feel sick.

The profiles that you select for trailer, five iirc, I thought were for the stability system and nothing to do with the cameras but I may be wrong, do other owners without VA have the trailer profile menu?

I do not have a venture cam dock.

Venture Cam is on lots of 09/10my cars in VSE & AB guise... I think you will find it was removed as standard fit on the 11my> much like RSE i guess... Thumbs Up

Mrs doesn't fancy a white one. It is nice looking though.

I thought that the venture was another option for the my11 onwards. I got a copy of the owners manual on topix and it listed the operation in there. I was kind of hoping that by buying a camera online it would all work from the start.

Will need to check the car we are looking at on Saturday had the charge dock.

It has almost every option we were looking for. VA pack and tow bar already fitted with other options too. I've managed to get a LR 13 pin socket so can fit that instead of the twin 7 pin one. Hopefully the ccf will be done already for the 7 pin on there.
