How to tell if subs working

Hi how to I know of the subs working?
2007 vogue - I was playing with the -/+ on the subwoofer and couldn't tell any difference.
Is the sub on the dash or in the boot?

the sub is in the boot, passenger side, in front of the amp/Nav disc etc. Pull the removable panel off (covering the nav changer etc. and you will see a big black box further towards the seats. Put on a loud, bassie song and stand round the back. You will hear/feel it if it's working Ash
