United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Autobiography TDV8 Stornoway Grey

Well that was quick. The resprayed door appeared to have been painted a darker grey to the rest of the car, and the bonnet needed spraying too - it had several scratches and a couple of decent stone chips. Various other scratches and rust under th upper tailgate... I didn't even bother test-driving it and am now back at the station waiting for the 1425 back to London. The search goes on!

Shame - that was a nice looking car - my favorite L322 wheels Thumbs Up

Personally, I never bother with any of the additional policies the dealers try to sell me.

Oh no! That is soooo frustrating!

Why the hell cant car dealers see wrong coloured & poor paint finishes! Stone chips and alike!!!

Sorry you have had a wasted trip... Better luck next time...

Cheers for the comments, I guess the previous mentions of dealership issues make some sense to me now!

Don't lose heart - there are good dealers Thumbs Up

I've turned up & driven home in cars from Hunters in Norwich & Matford in Exeter - both times exactly as described.

I think I saw this car back in Easter when I had a look around the dealership whilst visiting Chester. If it's the same car it was a disgrace for a main dealer item. It was filthy, scratched paintwork and kerbed wheels. I'm only sorry you had a wasted trip, they should have paid your fare.

I think the state of their second hand stock reflects the attitude and service of the whole dealership. I.E. They can't be bothered and only want your money.

Hate to say we told you so but there you go. Funny that
You mentioned paint colour as my rear door is a shade or two darker
Than the rest of the car. Thanks to hunters of Chester .
Although I must say that hunters in Preston are a much
Better dealer altogether.
Just drove past Kentdale Landrover today and notice that they
Have a very nice grey one in, might be worth a look if you're still
Lookin.

London to Chester just to waste your time - me thinks train fair reimbursement at least. What are they playing at!

Must be really peed off. I can only imagine.

A least you still have the fun of looking and testing. Thumbs Up 405 AB exec seats Baltic and Cirrus

Yep, still looking. Haven't driven the TDV8 yet, only the 5.0L petrol which is still there at the back of my mind... I don't do many miles so it *almost* makes sense, especially with the government potentially about to start hitting diesel harder, and the sound! Much to ponder, but can't see any suitable candidates at the moment, so plenty of time to think and read more.

Oh, and I had the call from the salesman I'd previously dealt with (he was ill yesterday) - he was very sorry, and seemed amazed that it had not gone to the bodyshop, but instead been farmed out to some local outfit. I didn't bother explaining that it was because they had been too cheap to do it properly. Don't think I'll be going back there anytime soon!

Might go and have a look at this 5.0:

Not sure about the retractable side steps, though.

Actually, driving through Wellesbourne on my way to work I saw a very tidy looking black 5.0 S/C with a 2010 plate. £27500 on the screen. Didn't have time to stop but I could go take a look tomorrow if you want.

Shell Petrol Station in Wellesbourne. Google maps will possibly give you the name.

That's very kind - headline info like number of owners, mileage and general condition would be great! Thanks so much.
